I was planning to stay in Turkey, fly over before the game starts, fly back to Turkey right after
    Committment

I was thinking about making Manama my base and making the 5 to 6 hour drive or see if there was any group travel being organised but need tickets first

Not sure where to post this but looks like Infantino now pushing for worldcup every 3 years?

          Absolutely perfect!
Exactly what I proposed from the beginning.

No to nation league, no to afcon, copa America every 1 or two years!
YES TO WC EVERY 3 YEARS!

Just give us the asian cup every 2 years and i'm happy.
It's about time we win that damn tournament.

I rather play the like of England, usa etc. Every 3 years than having asian cup every 2 years. I remember asian cup wasn't broadcasted abroad, some members here even thought japan won't the last edition and it isn't considered worldwide anyway

No one outside Asians cares about it. Maybe even Japanese don't care about it. We just care cause we haven't won it in a while but it's by far the weakest continental championships alongside Concacaf - although Mexico, US and Canada can be argued to be stronger than the top Asian teams now.

To play in the World Cup is the highest pinnacle - by far.

And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Disagree. beIN SPORTS was definitely covering Asian Cup 2019! Maybe because of Qatar? But there was definitely good coverage.

I think 3 years is a decent compromise...if they kept it to 32 teams.

Actually I think that could have been argued a few years ago, but right now, aside from Canada, not sure we can argue that.

Mexico and USA are the worst versions of themselves i've seen in over 4-5 years+ - I think it's really a toss up between those sides and top Asian sides / hard to tell really until they face each other.

Canada I'd also would actually fall into the same category. They've done really well and got the better of both USA and Mexico but agian because those teams are in poor form, it's hard to really gauge how strong Canada is until they actually face a worthy opponent outside of CONCACAF.

Is this guy ever gonna stop? All he's been doing is changing things in the sport since he's taken over, and mostly all just for the sake of increasing revenue / profits.

Ridiculous honestly. He's a cancer to this sport and even if Blatter was sketchy along with this whole team, at least the integrity of the sport wasn't being ruined in many ways with crap like this, the 48 team world cups, random tournaments that mean nothing, etc.

Sorry I can see why some don't mind a world cup every 3 years but every 4 years is what makes it so special and worth the wait + the reason for these changes are what bothers me ($$$)

Starting 2026 it is 48 teams, 16 groups of 3. That means 2 games for Iran before possibly going home. So we have to wait 4 years and play 20+ qualifiers for 2 tokhmi games vs Uruguay and Congo DR before possibly being eliminated lol

The Asian cup is still an international tournament. Having it every 2 years will increase the chances of our players being scouted by european teams.

I would even go as far as mirroring what CAF is doing. Having a "real" AFCON every 2 years and a AFCON for local players every 2 years. Meaning they have a tournament every year.
That would be great for our local players to get more international experience. It would also calm down the media inside Iran calling for more local players to be given a chance in TM.
