My two cents on the veteran presence...Beitashour can really help us. Call him up! He is a defensive wall.

Time to consider a different type of veteran leadership. Greek league is a joke. One of Ansarifard or Hajsafi only (prefer Ansarifard). Consider calling up Dejagah for last 10-15 min cause he can still give you beast mode...why not...better than headless Hajsafi who is invoking memories of Shojaie for me.

Should be giving Ebrahimi a chance too... gives us more options at RB if he's in the midfield. Could've been really helpful this game

The first 15 mins was actually extremely good, elite pressing and passing to the point when for a brief moment you almost felt this fat waste of space was competent and we'd have a chance with our proper team but then that Gholami at RB happened.
It's cute to see these Persian Goh Premier League players be given a chance but the most basic requirement is for the player to at least know the basic theory of what he is meant to do. What is that Croat doing in these camps if he can't see what any man can see within 5 mins? Gholami has no idea at RB. That is one of the biggest tragedies on the international scene that didn't involve a school getting bombed. Jesus.
Hopefully that shambles wakes a few more people up to the harsh reality. We may do something at the WC but it will be solely because of Sardar and Mehdi managing to overcome the limitations of our team and coach.
Before I say anything Taz jaan, I just want to make sure I read this correctly. Did you just call Persian Gulf "Persian Goh"? If you did, I suggest that you wisely correct your post and apologize.

          Go TM!

No haj safi ! NO HAJSAFI ... no HAJSAFI .... N O H A J S A F I! No HAJSAFIIIIIIIIIIIII! Can team melli staff repeat this 10 times a day! Honestly I think he has private nudes of every team melli staff, otherwise who in the right mine would invite and play him!

Regarding abedz sooti: This is exactly why I don't trust abedzadeh in our goal! He always makes some childish errors.

Skocic now knows that this is not a joke. But on skocic's defense: We didn't have 5 key players, Abedzadeh made huge mistake, ehsan was shit , shoja got injured, Sardar is not fit enough etc... But despite all that, I think the problem occured when shoja got injured.

Before shoja's injury we played good football and we had 2 chances to score and finish the game but messed up. I think its a bit unfair to blame everything on skocic when we played good football in first 40 minute (before shoja's injury).

now Japan can take over us and become asia's #1 and potentially taking that pot 2 place .
The next fifa ranking is on march 31st.

While 99% of the world love Son, I hated him because he made a similar quote a few years ago. When asked about the upcoming Iran game, something along the lines of "I dont care, we are Korea, we are the better team."

But like Abtin said, good for them. I do wish we had our full roster.

On the other hand, this is classic Iran. Playing like they don't give a F when there's nothing to play for.

It's always meant more to South Korea. Remember in 2013 (or 2012) they were talking about making us cry tears of blood!

I mean in all fairness the only reason we had the upper-hand against Korea for more than a decade was the passion, pride, luck and fighting spirit of our players. In ALL the other aspects of the game Korea is on another whole Level. Even under CQ we managed to dominate Korea only once, in our WCQ 2018 game in Azadi. All the other games we had a good chunk of luck on our side. Now they finally defeated us and are rightfully proud of that. Forget about the rankings Japan and Korea are just on another Level in worldfootball. Australia, KS and TM are fighting for the third spot in Asia.

I for the love of me could never understand why people on this forum thought our “good results” were because of our coach and his game plan, our wins were PURELY based on individual talent and not because of a combination of talent and tactics. I hope everyone noticed that today. We are absolutely going to get ripped against good teams in the World Cup.

Well, a performance to learn from and forget. Here are my observations.

1- Loosing Shoja was key. Up to that point, Koreans did not have a single real chance. Gholami was not up to par. I would have gone with Esamilifar, yet I guess the coaching staff had other ideas.
2- Hajsafi is done. He should not be called again. If he had passed the ball to open Gholizadeh in the first few minutes, we would have been up 1-0 in all likelihood.
3- First goal was Abedz fault and it was partially unlucky yet he should have punched the ball out with force not allowing it to ricochet against his own knee. The other question is how in the world Son got the chance to take that shot. Shoja would have not allowed it.
4- Missing Taremi, ARJ, Saeid, Ghoddoos and Mohraami in that order showed that we do not have enough depth when loosing five starters.
5- Skocic should have gone with double change in the half and replaced Hajsafi with Sayadmanesh too. He ended up being our best player.
6- We need a COVID-19 risk management plan for the WC.
7- We have a lot of work to do and with the lack of planning and POT 2 possibility gone, our chances of making it out of the group stage just got lower.
8- People waiting for this opportunity in the sidelines or behind the scenes will call for Skocic's head now. I disagree. It's good that we had the loss now. We just saw how his reliance on experience and playing together was actually working but it will not be enough for WC. Instead of a new coach, we need world class preparation and with this IFF and IR, I doubt it will happen. I love to be proven wrong.
9- Time to reorganize and have a decisive win vs Lebanon in Mashhad on Tuesday. Pulling his team back together with a win (even vs Lebanon) is another test for Skocic since this is his first loss. I would actually call Mehdi, ARJ and Ghoddoos back if they are out of self isolation and could travel.

                          Go TM!

And unfortunately Dragan Skocic showed that he has absolutely no game plan and he's coward coach without guts. His staring line-up showed that he entered the field with one single goal, NOT LOSING.
                            And then...

1- Aref Gholami is not TM material. (What the hell did he think to bring in AG as right back when the guy has only been playing as left back in his club and you have players like Esamilfar who's natural righ back?

2- Ehsan Hajsafi should just say Good Bye. He's been done in TM for very long time.

3-Noorafkan should definitely be the first choice as left back. Mohammadi not good enough. He's only (Bezan Ziresh)

4- Kaananizadeh a beast (Eventhough I dont like him) but right now, he's our best Center back

5- Abedzadeh still shady, not natural first choice.

6-Gholizadeh seems to have serial psychological issue since he's so faaar from his form.

7- Unfortunately we are so depended on Taremi.
I have to respectfully disagree. Did you not see our WC games, against Spain, Morocco and Portugal? In each game we were severely outplayed. Against Morocco it was a Moroccan own goal that saved the day. On the other 2 games we had absolutely no plan other than packing the bus in the box. I am not saying we played good here but given the circumstances of some of our players and the fact that we had already qualified, I would not bash our coach after one loss. In that case we should have sacked CQ after losing to Lebanon or Uzbekistan (in Tehran) leading to the 2014 WCQ.

That togetherness and siege mentality was why TM was always greater than the some of its parts.

I think many people had an unrealistic expectation of TM's squad depth and current talent pool - and results against european and world champions in the world cup were seen as nothing special. We needed someone like Queiroz to build this, at least until the political situation in Iran changes and the country's natural talent can flourish.

i think he was trying to stress out the overall quality of our local league action with that comment rather than an insulting reference to PG itself ..!! but i agree nonetheless that a correction is still much warranted to avoid further misunderstanding by avg. readers..!
