This thread is such an overreaction.

If yesterday was such an embarrassment, then we should be expecting mass suicide in Italy today. Perhaps Australia, Mexico and Canada too.

We lost one game in a successful qualification campaign with only half of our A team, and it was played away at a rival's home who hadn't beaten us in over a decade.

Cool. Lets get better, focus on the big picture and move forward.

for me he was our lowest ranked player, slightly worse than nourollahi and azmoun
the doublesave was after his own created mess though, running out totaly unneccecary and confusing the defender instead of stayin put in goal and waiting for the backpass in the situation before that led to a panic clearance that led to korea getting hold of the ball and then creating that chance right afterwards.. so he created the mess himself. but great saves yes.
also, he wasnt good at positioning himself on the long passes from the sides in to the penalty area, as twice he was coming after the player so one player had open goal but missed the header and the second time the player missed the ball so abedz could grab it afterwards. if he had been half a second faster he would have had a open goal by the nearest post. this is a very very important issue, more than the run out before the doublechance. this is bad at corners aswell and alarming.
beira have never ever come close to making this many errors or this important errors. he got his balls cut of for the misses in his last game but it wasnt half as bad as abedz.
i dont know if people are being gentle with critisizing abedz since he is abedz seniors son but judging purely from his game today he was worse than mirzapour and in levels with talebloo. i have never seen beira have a closly bad game as this and he should be given the next game,
not saying abedz is bad and he is atleast our 2 goalie, but if we are going to judge him the on the same premise as beira, in the same way, he was waay worse then beira has ever been, with or without gametime.
My Man of Match is Kanaani by miles, followed by Shoja for his first half.
Well said. I think most people are cheering for Abedzadeh jr because of his father. That is how Iranians are unfortunately.
You talked about Mirzapour, i have to say that man is above Abedzadeh in every level except his amateurish goalkicks. Abedzadeh is Okay for being nr.2 or 3 goalie but he simply does not have the skills, height or strength to be nr.1.

Bro, can you not talk about our former Tottenham Hotspur player like that?

All joking aside, what was he doing, did he try to catch a swerving Son shot? This is where experience of facing top quality players comes into its own and where Beiro trumps Abedz.

It's amazing what some some of you guys expect from TM. And worst of all you are comparing now to 2006 WC. Well let's take a look at Iran's WC record since the infamous '98:
In '98, our first appearance in 20 years, we lost 2 and won 1 (albeit US was a much better team in the first 15-20 minutes and should have won that game)... 2002, we did not qualify. 2006 in Germany we lost 2 and tied 1 (Togo I think). We know the love fest between Daei and Karimi there. In 2010, again did not qualify. 2014 under the mastery of CQ, we lost 2 and tied 1 (Nigeria I believe). And 2018 lost 2 and beat Morocco very very luckily.
So all in all what is your expectation? Do you think, even if CQ was our coach, we would be in a better shape? And by that I am talking about advancing from our group? The answer is absolutely not.
I don't care who you bring as our coach now, we are not in a position to do any better. We will once again exit after 3 games.

It’s not about making the next round at the WC anymore, it’s about not getting embarrassed at the WC. The way our defence has been playing it doesn’t look good for us. All the work done strengthening this area for last few years is now being undone. Unfortunately the current coach doesn’t seem to have the needed expertise to help the situation, if anything it will only worsen.

Honestly after 2018 I had expectations of advancing to the wc2022 second round. Not thanks to the coach but thanks to our players. I thought we would had much more and much more successful legionnaires.

Yes we had more, but expect taremi and Azmoun (remain to see how will turn his German experience), the rest is in secondary euro leagues/always injured or benched. At the very best scoring or assisting once every one or two months. The rest is lazy as fuck in qatar or ipl

People are acting so dramatic about this loss. come on, we lost 2-0 in an away game against Korea. one of the top 3 best asian teams. they couldn't beat us for a long time, which is already a huge accomplishment. I agree this loss could have been prevented with a different tactic/line up. but also don't forget that we missed some key players. And dont forget the first goal was basically a blooper by abedzadeh.

And don't forget we missed some clear chances as well. As we say in farsi the ball is round throw it up amd it will spin a 1000 different ways each time.

Doosteh azeez, for me, it was the build-up to this and Skocic's inability to use all the resources available to him. He could have called other players who are actually doing well in Europe/Qatar (e.g. Alipour, Mohebi, Ebrahimi) Or come up with a line-up that did not have so many out-of-expertise positions for our players OR do more decent subs earlier (Esmailifar for Shoja, Sayaadmanesh at half time, etc.). One measure of competency in life is consistently asking whether one is effectively using all the resources available. Skocic failed to do that. Considering his lack of urgency in the two months after qualification, I don't think he will correct himself. Hence the reaction by many of us.

                      Go TM!

Urgency after qualifying? What if Skocic was trying to experiment and test players...give the lesser some experience knowing how incompetent IFF is at arranging friendlies. Case in point blocking us from going to Kirin Cup because of the sponsor!!! Has anyone even thought maybe he is trying to experiment to figure out al his options now that we have qualified. Pot 2 was a dream to begin win but he clearly knows how and wants to win...but this is IFF we are dealing with.

Some of you need to watch Yazdah show and see all the bs teams in Iran including the national team have to deal with day in day out. How many chances do you feel Skocic will get to test his team against decent opponents?

PSG jaan, do you recall our inability to produce any meaningful attacks in 2018? How do/did you expect us to advance from the group stage with the bus packing tactic in WC?
By the way in case anyone forgot, below is the possession % breakdown of each WC game in 2018:
vs Morocco (Iran kept ball possession 37%)
                          vs Spain (32%)
                          vs Portugal (33%)
                          In 2014 WC:
                          vs Argentina (24%)
                          vs Bosnia (38%)
                          vs Nigeria (37%)
                          In 2006 WC:

                          vs Portugal (37%)
vs Togo (54%) and we tied

O-ZoNe jaan, testing who? Hajsafi? Noorafkan at DM? Gholami instead of Esmailifar? And now all of a sudden he started testing against Korea in Seoul. No my friend, he wasn't testing. He was being cautious and not even effectively utilizing actual young talent that was available to him. Ehsan Hajsafi did a lot for our TM and should have a decent farewell AND he is not a talent worth testing at this stage of his career. I actually do appreciate what Skocic has done to get us qualified yet he will not do much to prepare us for WC. I was hoping that he would step up now that he is nearing the most popular sports event in the history of mankind, a stage that even a team like the Azzurri have been deprived of twice in a row. Unfortunately, he went back to Croatia and relaxed while enjoying his wife's cooking and IFF put Estili in charge. What we saw yesterday was the result of his lack of urgency and ineffective coaching. We had the talent even without Taremi, ARJ, Ghoddoos, Saeid and Moharrami to get a tie in Seoul and he failed. This is the harbinger of what is to come. I am just being realistic my friend.

Time will tell. I do think he wanted to test some of the proven vets. Open the door for competition. Why risk burning youngsters self confidence versus a strong team in a hostile environment. Just look at Gholizadeh and his terrible play. Expect changes. Plan for the worst hope for the best. We need to be real fans and cheer cheer cheer no matter what. I believe in Skocic. 1 loss. Solid qualification.

One disallowed goal vs Spain, 3 other clear opportunities missed.

Taremi open goal miss vs Portugal. 2 penalties not given.

Azmoun brain fart 1v1 vs Moroccan goalie.

How did we not create "any" chances?

Even at the far worse 2014 World cup of our bus parking we made 4-5 chances vs Argentina.

Chance creation doesnt mean much if you have embarassing moments like a Mirzapour, Rezaei miskick and collapsing versus Mexico or conceding a goal to Angola.

Give me a Macedonian style win over Italy anyday over a game where our PGL prospects do a couple cheeky backheels and stepovers but lose 4-0.

PSG jan is right, if we were one goal away from going through to the next round. With advancements like Azmoun, Taremi going from nobody to best player in Portugal etc why would expecting improvement be a bad thing?
