"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Get Jardim in ASAP would improve us massively and the players would respect him!

Honestly, the best way forward for our football is for reactionary PP/ESES fans to be put on a leash and common sense reforms be made to our youth systems.
Make those two changes and we go from whatever mess we are now to Korea/Japan lite.
I was a Skocic supporter but any coach that lets his decisions be dictated by Majidi and his teenage esteghlal supporters pressure doesn’t deserve my respect. Better find someone who will stand up to esteghlal like CQ did to Perspolis.

You can already see the media is setting the wheels in motion from Javad to IFF board member to big online Iranian football accounts.

Dragan is not strong enough to withstand this.

Keeping Skocic is the only logical choice at this stage.
Anything else at this juncture is not feasible and it is counter productive.

Instead of replacing him, the federation can bring in some top notch technical assistant for him and come up with a good preparation plan with some good friendlies.

That can be better than bringing someone fresh with no familiarity with Iranian football culture and capabilities. There is no magic about this. Our football is not at a level that someone just take over at national level and be successful.

No point in paying another few million to some coach who will not be able to do much in 8 months. It took CQ a good few years to get the team at a good level. What makes anyone to think this can be done in 8 months.

                Let's not have Willy 2.0!!

Jardim would be a decent choice -he is very good at fostering youth (and taking risks to do so), literally the polar opposite in that respect to Skocic

                    I am against replacing Skocic.

How much to pay to his replacement? We are in WC. We have good players. In WC if all our players play, we will be okay.

Let us use the money that we will get from WC to build or renovate our infrastructure.

Skocic should stay. He worked to get us this far. Let us NOT repeat Jalal Talebi's case for France for 2022 WC.

I am against Daie and any other vatani coach.

Similar to letting CQ go who asked for less than Wilmots, the thief.

Let us give a chance to players to experience WC playing against good teams and build our future with them. The likes of Hajsafi should retire and give their place(s) to new player.

CQ did it to both especially when Rahmati situation happened.

In principal I agree with you but any of these new coaches coming in don't even know thats a problem and they have less than 8 months to figure it out.

We’re all waiting for some good news.
Come on IFF fire Skocic already.

I've seen a few people mention 1998 world cup. Genuinely surprised - what were people's expectations?

In the end Ivic set up the team and worked well with them after Vieira qualified. Talebi didn't have to do that much, and left soon after. And Iran did a lot better than expectations (people seem to have forgotten how much of an outsider Iran was in 1998) performing pretty well against a very strong Yugoslavia and beating US, whilst respectable against Germany.

I disagree with anyone who thinks Iran under-achieved in that world cup. (For me the only WC which Iran really under-achieved was 2006)

Talebi wasn't the most experienced coach but he did fine for that period using the set up which he inherited.

The problem is that Iran has no obvious game plan at the moment and has regressed from a few perspectives on the pitch and with bringing in new players, so there isn't much for anyone new to work with....

I doubt this federation has the balls to make a change now, it also seems that skocic has most probably lost the support of his team and that is the worst thing that can happen, with the pressure from social media and most news outlets It looks like he is on his way out. In this scenario nothing less then a big name can make a difference, as whoever is picked must be able to have the teams respect even before he starts training them and the name must be big enough to cause an immediate impact. There are a lot of options out there and the process must start now.

Decent explanation of tactics used by Leonardo Jardim's Monaco in the 2016/2017 season when they won Ligue 1.
