2014 was definitely better performance than we had in 2006. It was so disappointing having such amazing players and getting killed by Mexico, Portugal, and barely getting a point from a weak African side Angola. As far 1998, I guess its arguable however due to the fact that we had a harder group in 2014 and lesser quality of a squad compared to 1998, I would choose 2014 WC a better performing one. One thing is certain though and that is the game vs USA which is my favorite emotional game of all time! I never forget SCREAMING my lungs out saying GOAL and jumping up and down for 2 straight minutes. It was only couple of years since I had moved to US and that win meant everything for me to go back to school and brag to my school teammates!! I am 40 now and I still vividly remember it.

Lol possession was 75% Argentina mate. Check the official stats. In the 90 minute match we held the ball for less than 23 minutes against them! You can't even hope of winning with that type of possession.

If you ask me, that was a perfect game.. Going against that Argentinian team which was very in form, all we could do is defend and counter which we did precisely! Minus the 91st minute goal, we deserved a point from that game. We displayed perfect "counter attacking" game and we were so good at it with Carlos! Everything was calculated with TM down to the science!

We displayed 1 serious counter attack. The rest was kick it away and sit back. Perfect game means going for a win. That's why we play football. Yes it was Argentina...but our stats against them mirror Nigeria match as well.

We fired Ivic I think few weeks before 1998 and we did well under talebi .

Talebi was clueless. He said we deserved a PK against USA when Keller tripped Azizi...followed it up by saying I'm happy the ref didn't award it due to political tensions or some bs like that. We did ok in 98 thanks to Ivic and Vieras efforts...Talebi was a nobody.

I think that was the point the previous poster was making - we fired Ivic just four weeks before the world cup and due to his intense camp, the work had been done to prepare us.

Ie it's not too late to replace Skocic

Would YOU want to work for a country where they fire you after taking them to the World Cup with ease and losing one frickin friendly??
Results in friendlies mean nothing. It is meant to expose our shortcomings. Now give the staff to fix it.
A friendly is for experiments which Skocic did. Didn't work out. Kessi namord.
At least he is doing some offensive tactics.
