quoting fergussen on titles and defense/attack is also extremely irrelevant.
that is in the context of a LEAGUE set up where you're given enough time/games to recover & bounce back from a few defeats.
WC is pretty much THREE do or die games.
relying on draws and 0-0's will 99% end in elimination.
this is not basic football. neither is it basic math. it's basic common sense

Repeat: Realism/rationalism is important and thinking Iran has the depth to perform attacking football in a world cup against teams with players throughout elite European leagues is horribly, terribly, ridiculously, horrendously, terrifyingly mistaken.

If that is true that our players can't complete a 5 yard pass, then we should get blown out so we can go back to fundamentals and learn how to pass, instead of covering ourselves in glory because we LOST 1-0 to a weak, weak Spain.

Realism is important. In a previous post, you said that Iran's squad is nothing less than Senegal's.

It's 3 games. Anything can happen. It's not utopian at all its actually quite realistic. Utopian is believing by defending only eventually every team will either score an own goal or your will score 100% of your limited offensive chances. That's not only utopian but a fantasy.

Playing bezan ziresh football against some pretty under-par Persian Gulf nations and relying on moments of magic from either Taremi or Azmoun isn't going to cut it in a world cup.
Teams like Bosnia and Morocco had players spread throughout the whole of Europe, Bosnia had a whole Bundesliga defence line in 2014, and star players from Serie A and the Premier League.
The issue is that fans don't appreciate the gulf at the moment, and hence can't process the discipline that CQ instilled in TM, which based on the last few games I've seen has all but disappeared.
The key point is that we are still getting fans saying the likes of this:
I mean, where do you start when the interpretation of Iran's pool of talent is so far out of the ballpark. Take Senegal who have such a depth in defence and midfield (ignore their goalkeeper and forwards) - whereas we have to rely on a guy who has barely had a handful of games over 5 years as our midfield lynchpin....
Where is the realism?

Exactly right
Unfortunately some fans here think that we are pessimists and are hating, when we are actually just looking at things with a realist and pragmatic lens

You aren't the coach, I'm not the coach, Skocic is the coach, and people flipping him off in the stadium is freaking pathetic.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh
