    Iran in 1998

Four months before World Cup: Tomislav Ivic appointed
Three weeks before World Cup: Tomislav Ivic sacked

Within those three months, one of the greatest coaches of all time did what needed to be done and revolutionised Iran's football. Which meant that even with Jalal Talebi we had our second best ever world cup performance and a Nakisa mistake away from 4 points (against a stacked Yugoslavia, dominant 90s Germany and a hungry USA)

    There is always time.

Furthermore implements his tactics, and get the players to understand Them, having only 1 international break before the World cup… these are the things that people dont understand. There are so many factors to consider. As I have said before, this Forum has alot of passion, but sometimes not the knowledge of how football works.

Personally I dont Think Skocic os anything Great. But perhaps other than CQ, there is no one in World football who Will come and do a better job 4 months before the tournament. People really Think Pep Guardiola just tell his players to pass the Ball around in Triangles and then it just magically happens
      1. My statement said nothing about availability. Obviously committed coaches are out of the running.
      2. Affording a good coach goes back to my comment about IFF incompetence/impotence.
      3. Skocic’s lack of tactics or plan on the field is a vacuum that can be easily filled by a competent and dedicated coach (hint: CQ) in the time we have left.

Carlos will make the most sense. Little time for a learning curve. He’s the right man for the job.
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

that team had problems in the backfield .
we had killer midfield and forwards
exactly abedzadeh never give up goal like that.
if germany was not in our group we could of advance
          THT TEAM MIDFIELD AND FORWARDS
          WAS AMAZING...

Broke federation that is unlikely to pay you and wants to deal in Rial. Poor prep to date. Lack of familiarity with domestic players and league. Dealing with reality of incompetence I all aspects of football and the strong Perspolis and Esteghlal mafia. Yes a dream job...the being paid in rials makes it even more dreamier.

Lol. Any *competent* agent/negotiator would demand a contract in Euros or Dollars (like CQ or Wilmots did). Skocic being okay with rials is probably another reason he was hired by IFF…just made things easier.

We are a sad and simple country. We made a revolution 43 years ago with a few rumors and stories, and brought Khomeini that no one knew and thought we are gonna be heaven on earth. And again, based on a few tweets by someone that has 263 followers, we are believing that all our footballing problems will be solved and we are going to be a soccer super power in a few months. After all, apparently, Ivic revolutionized our Football in three months.
Gosh, I have a bridge to sell all of you who believe that.

                  if there is coaching change
it be only cq if he is available.

javad nekunam in one f his interviews
mentioned ASIAN CUP is more important than
world cup ,beacause we have chance to
                  win that tournment...

here is 2 scenerio 1 of them will happen.

1.skocic will get replace by cq before wc
2.skocic will get replace by nekunam aftwr wc.

Exactly, many coaches would jump at the chance, and IR easily has enough money to pay to beat the little and great satans etc...

They just don't want to because of how much of a trigger the happiness of wins/second round will be for hejabs coming down, trigger for social revolution etc... They learnt after the 1998 situation about the risks of national pride and happiness. Those events really stirred the pot (both Australia game and USA win) and made their control more fragile.

That's why apart from a tiny fraction of people, most within the IR apparatus want Skocic to stay. Look at the passion of the Varzesh 3 guy.... Iran reaching the second round could be a nightmare for them.

We should be hypocrites less (e.g. Saying "thanks for the novel" whilst routinely writing James Joyce-esque tomes)!

And perhaps seekhoonak less like a little childish see you next tuesday.

now you're exposing our national self-doubt and imposter syndrome. This is turning into quite the psychology course in Persian/Iranian psyche.

What a lashkhor lol. We will never be rid of this guy and his gang.
