I watched the extended highlights from the game vs Portugal at the world cup 2018.

Even though we had CQ as a portuguese coach TM was nervous as F**K!
Beiro almost got into a fight with Kananii if i recall correctly.
Later he slipped the ball after a corner.
Whole team acted amateurish in various moments.

All i'm saying is that no matter who is in charge, we need a special mental coach to fix that.
We are good for a surprise but also good for blunders lol.

Still, the mental problem needs to be fixed.

The same time limitations applies to skocic, the only difference is that he will just use the time to go thru the motions, and we will accordingly pass thru the WC just going thru the motions. An experienced coach will do most of the work in planning and arrangements before the players come together and apply the plans with the limited time he has with the players and make adjustments as he goes along. Totally doable in 6 months with the limited time, no doubt.

Of course same time limitations apply to Skocic. But Skocic already has guided the team 16 times and knows the players' strengths and weaknesses. You mentioned that the new coach will have six months to familiarize himself with the team and I pointed out the constraints of that six months.


Unless you have watched Skocic train the team behind closed doors, I don't know how much weight I can put on your point of him just going through the motion.

This criticism of Skocic is getting more comical by the day. Oh no, he lost ONE GAME in the qualifying round when it did not mean anything?!! Oh no, he did not brush his hair? Oh no, he has a big belly? Oh no, the players hate him. Oh no, his farsi is not good enough, no its too good, no he has an accent,

Deal with it. He has the best record compared to any Iranian coach. The results are what matters, and he has plenty to brag about. Stop the magical thinking...There is no other coach that can magically improve Iran in 8 months.

The best to hope and work for is:

that IFF can get its money from FIFA;
that IFF can arrange friendlies when it cannot pay any teams to visit;
that training camps are held, that logistics are arranged;
that jealous Iranian coaches keep their egos in check;
that IFF does not do or say something stupid to cause problems,
that some US company does not pull any stupid shit like Nike did,
etc. etc.

Yes, a lot of other ways to improve besides firing the most-winning coach!!!

I was a big Skocic fan even after the SK game. Keeping him was the right move

But our defense against Lebanon and SK was poor. Lebanon game there is no excuse for us to give the ball up under pressure and have a poor defensive shape. We almost conceded twice against their B team. This is embarrassing no matter who the coach is and needs to be fixed immediately otherwise we will get punished

The only strong offense we have played is Korea and the defense wasn't great the second game either. For defensive shape there isn't an excuse because this is drilled in from the coach

CQ defensive plans were unrivaled. He shut down Barca in Champions league when he was Man U assistant coach.

Laid down mats for the players, telling them exactly where they need to be. His meticulous coaching is well documented. Since our problem is defense and not offense (basically all individual skill) defense must be a priority otherwise teams will steamroll us in the 1st half.
