Yes, if you’re referring to this setting the precedent vis a vis Iran, then yes, it is the first successful ban attempt …and likely not the last.

This is not the first time a Iran friendly has been cancelled for political reasons - so I wouldn't worry too much about this being a precedent.

The cancel culture woke tool bags like Masih Alinejad win on this. She doesn't realize that Team Melli has absolutely nothing to do with the government. Most of the Team Melli players don't even support the government, but they're representing the Iranian people.

IFF definitely needs to file a complaint to FIFA and seek all damages possible. Stuff like this should never happen and politics should never be brought into the sport.

Yes but the difference in this case is that they shot a powerful bullet in their own feet. What they did is similar to what MEK did by integrating Saddam's army against their homeland.

Even those iranians who aren't supporting their government start to see the real nature, hypocrisy and acceptation of obvious double standards of these people towards Iran.

I do not believe it. When the Prime Minster of a country sees fit to meddle in a soccer match and expresses his disapproval of a soccer match, and implicitly insinuates the border police will not issue visas, then we know what's going on. Soccer Canada was probably told that Canadian authorities will cancel one way or another if Soccer Canada does not.

I hope Iranian-Canadians remember what's what come next elections and boot this dancing weasel out of Ottawa.
