You're very naive if you think like that. MEK and traitors like Alinejad just "use" any event in order to achieve their nasty goals, if it wouldn't be the plane, it would have been something else like you saw by yourself, with a stupid picture.

Secondly, we are now in a totally different era of "cancel culture" and woke ideology, rooted into the French theory of postmodernism.

Everything is "political" and is according to this ideology, a power play, where "truth" and "facts" are quite irrelevant because defined by who's in "power", therefore excluding the narrative of those having less power.

This ideology is becoming so dominant in the western world that it destroys them from within, as free speech is not anymore central at all.

The goal is to "cancel" whoever you disagree with. Iranian opposition just "used" this ideology to reach their goal which is to "cancel" whatever positive coming out of Iran, by "shaming" those who organised the event.

Those having used this political tool at the highest level and still using it today is far right zionists politisising "antisemitism" and trying to "cancel" whoever criticise Israel, putting aside "truth" or historical facts.

You can see the same attitude from those iranians treating very differently same events, blaming permanently Iran and never blaming the enemies of Iran, because it just doesn't fit their narrative. They will use lies, double standards, waging war and EVERYTHING available at their disposal to achieve their political goals.

This is what made this match cancelled, not IRI as this match was only one of the victim of this cancel culture.

Same here. I was really happy for them, but now they and Trudolf can go screw themselves.

I really don't understand the concept of equal outcome. It's a bullshit idea. Women sports don't make money because women sports suck. Even the most feminist of women don't watch female sports and the only reason people watch US's women soccer is because they win. No one actually watches them because they're quality talent. They lost to a bunch of high school freshmen and senior, so if we are talking about watching quality, we are more likely to see quality out of a high school soccer team than the national women's team.

I want to preface this (postface?) comment by saying that I think highly of women and am strictly speaking about sports.

In Canada I would argue the women have made more money and had more success than the men. Canadian women finished 3rd in WC and won Olympic gold. They constantly sell out particularly last few years. The men are just getting to that level as their first success was these qualifiers.

The controversy over the proposed Iran match may force potential sponsors to rethink a relationship with Canada Soccer, he said, since companies always take into account an organization's track record, as well as its reliability and reputation.*

"I would consider this a crisis for them," he said. "There is a long-term impact to consider, which is brand health."

Thanks for sharing. Interestingly the article argues that the amount was not that much:

The reported sum agreed to between Canada and Iran was a reasonable amount, said Pierre Azaria, the general manager of MCI Sport, a Switzerland-based agency that organizes international matches and training camps for soccer clubs and national federations.

International matches are often expensive, he said, considering the cost of private aircraft, security and hotels. Usually, a country's soccer federation would send at least 55 people to such a game, a contingent of players, coaches and staff.

At least 55... and Iran was only sending 50. Yet social media ran away with rumors of 183 people being sent.

And out of that 50, 280 of them had a picture with Nasseredin Shah. Outrageous I tell you. But Canada is lucky to have a courageous leader like Trudeau who stepped unto the floor to put a stop to all this dilly-dallying.

I never support Arab teams, but I'm more sympathetic to them than the other Arab teams.

Good, I hope they have a horrible preparation and get wrecked in the WC after their incompetence.

He also mentioned Tunisia demanded 1 million and Canada scrapped the idea of playing them.

I noticed he shared he avoids friendlies with Iran due to the pariah status of the nation and likelihood of cancelations...
