Some of you guys are really sleeping on this Algeria side.. Even with half their usual starters out this should be a challenging test and still a team that is better than any team in our WCQ group bar MAYBE South Korea

Iranianarsenal11 jan, I appreciate your optimism. I really do.

Even if Algeria are a quality side as you say (and as video shows), the argument is that they do not play anything like the Anglosphere contingency in Iran's group at the World Cup.

In my opinion, Canada and New Zealand would have been more than ideal within the context of Iran's group, but unfortunately neither materialized.

The purpose of a friendly is to find teams who can put pressure on your weak spots. Algerian players are extremely technical and will definitely put our defence under pressure, allowing eventual adjustments.

There are massive positioning issues and holes in our defense as you've noticed during some qualifier matches. Our defense look also quite shaky in front of technical players.

It is definitely not the pressure England will put with their tremendous speed but it will already change us from Asian teams.

Have you seen them play Germany few days ago ? Their level of play will be very different from what we use to face with Asian teams.

I can guarantee you that without adjusting our defense, it might turn to a disaster game for us.

Cheers bro.. I too think a combo of New Zealand and Canada would've been better... Even Uruguay would've been worth biting the 20 hour flight tbh

That being said, beggars can't be choosers... I just hope this game serves valuable experience

Maybe, but saying no to Uruguay to play this team instead? I'm not too happy.

Dude why is so hard for you folks to comprehend. They didn’t say no to Uruguay, they said no to
days of travelling across the globe with poor connectivity options for just one game. It makes sense. Playing Algeria instead and not wasting a week+ On travelling and recovery is preferable.

We tried for Canada. They cancelled not us. So not sure why you are wishing for Canada. I definitely would take Algeria over NZ any day.
