    Brainstorming for September friendlies

Let's all contribute in making a list of best possible list of national teams as potential friendly match opponent for Team Melli in September.

I'll start the list, then everyone post or modify the list. The sooner we have a list, we can email to FFIRI so they can start negotiating and not mess up like June friendlies. Consider those with direct diplomatic relations with Iran as top priority and others with no direct diplomatic relations or weaker teams as secondary.

Top Priority (apart from Brazil and Argentina who ask for high fee. Also no African or European teams listed)

    🇺🇾 Uruguay
🇲🇽 Mexico (has a match with Paraguay on 1 Sep)
🇪🇨 Ecuador (has a match with Saudi Arabia on 23 Sep)
    🇨🇴 Colombia
    🇨🇱 Chile
    🇯🇵 Japan
    🇦🇺 Australia
    🇧🇴 Bolivia
    🇻🇪 Venezuela
    🇶🇦 Qatar
    🇴🇲 Oman
    🇳🇿 New Zealand

Second Priority - No Diplomatic relations

    🇵🇪 Peru
🇵🇾 Paraguay (has a match with Mexico on 1 Sep)
    🇨🇷 Costa Rica
    🇵🇦 Panama
    🇭🇳 Honduras
    🇸🇻 El Salvador
    🇬🇹 Guatemala
    🇯🇲 Jamaica
    🇹🇹 Trinidad and Tobago
    🇭🇹 Haiti

Third Priority - List of countries with diplomatic relations but such friendly match will not really help Team Melli for preparing for World Cup, only benefits reserve/bench/uncapped players. Did not put Iraq, Lebanon, Uzbekistan, Syria, UAE teams that Team Melli played in WCQ or past friendlies.

    🇨🇳 China
    🇻🇳 Vietnam
    🇹🇲 Turkmenistan
    🇯🇴 Jordan
    🇹🇯 Tajikistan
    🇰🇼 Kuwait
    🇨🇺 Cuba
    🇳🇮 Nicaragua

Venezuela is good option because have very good relation with Iran, also the venezuela team have very good coach Jose Pekerman and good players ( Rincon, Rondon etc) so only IFF need to ask Venezuela federation about the venue and arrange the friendly

What I posted in other thread:

Out of Mexico, Uruguay, Peru, Ecuador, Senegal, Qatar, Japan, Oman we should be aiming to play 3. The window is technically September 19-27, and most teams will be aiming for 2 friendlies. However, given our clusterfuck this time we should do everything to fit an additional game. Oman or Qatar can be a good option for this game, they consist solely of local players. You can even add uzbekistan to the group of potential options for this first match, in fact given the trouble they give our ACL sides recently they might be the best bet. On the 19th or 20th we should try to book one of these 2. TMs domestic players and whatever legionairres can get off earliest should start the camp 2-3 before hand, and PGPL if in session should accomodate this. Then rest of foreign based players join for the next 2 matches. This would mean a total of 11 days Camp with 3 matches.

Then in 10 days prior to WC we should aim for at least 1 major friendly, Euro opposition would be available here and everybody will be in qatar so we should try to get Croatia or Serbia if possible. Before start of WC 2014 we had one very last minute dress rehearsal style game vs Trinidad and Tobago, and before 2018 we played Lithuania, both behind closed doors. We should aim to also get one very low tier friendly like this.

In total that would give us 5-6 matches.

                    So for september

On 16-18th: Team assembles at PEC. This will be domestic callups, QSL players, and any legionairres who can get off early. Few training sessions + plan for game 1.

                    19-20th: Legionairres arrive.

19-20th: 1 game for domestic + QSL + those who arrived early. Opponent choices: Qatar, Oman, Uzbekistan

21st, 22nd: Recovery for players who played in game 1. Regular training for legionairre additions

                    23rd: Game 2 vs Japan/Ecuador/Senegal/Uruguay/Mexico/Peru/Cameroon

                    24, 25, 26: Recovery + Training

                    27: Game 3 vs Japan/Ecuador/Senegal/Uruguay/Mexico/Peru/Cameroon

My personal choices: Qatar may not be available. They seem to be doing only camps behind closed doors at this point. Easiest way to ensure we get a competitive game for the local players + QSL, Branko and Oman. Their whole team is based locally so they will not be waiting for legionairres to join. They are a fast and physical side who gave trouble to saudi, Japan, Aussie in other group. We can invite them to tehran or play in doha. 2nd game I think if we can get uruguay to come to Doha that would be ideal. They are looking to play an asian side, wanted to play us this time around and it didnt happen. This is a team who will dominate possession vs us and has forwards that will really test our backline. For game 3 as The mentioned, Japan would be great. They are looking good in recent friendlies, strong test for us in terms of dealing with press and a high speed team.

In friendly games, money matters. Brazil playing Japan received almost ten million dollars which we don’t have. So money is important.
Japan and Korea are two good teams. Mexico always likes to play us. Venezuela will play us. Now that Australia is out of WC, they may play us. 4-5 friendlies should be good preparation.
Our team also needs to work on players’ stamina and organization. No more kicking the ball into sky. Preparing is very crucial.

All I know is if we go into November not having played against a top 10-12 team in the world we’re screwed, we MUST have some kind of practice against a team that has insane individual talent like England and USA have (obviously not on englands level but nonetheless they have a pretty deep squad of great individual talent too).

Ideally if we can play 3 of the following: Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Senegal, Uruguay, Ecuador, Peru or Mexico + find some team to play from asia to make it 4 friendlies before the WC then maybeeeeeee we can restore some realistic hope of some kind of decent results but we know it would be a dream for that to happen.

We got to play both Australia and New Zealand..and if possible either of Rep Ireland or Scotland or may be even some bottom of the table EPL or a good team from championship league.

No use to play South Americans or Asians.
