"If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water my friend."~Bruce Lee
We got to play both Australia and New Zealand..and if possible either of Rep Ireland or Scotland or may be even some bottom of the table EPL or a good team from championship league.
No use to play South Americans or Asians.
Australia and New Zealand are already unavailable during the September window - they will be playing 2 friendlies against each other to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their first ever national team match against each other: https://www.socceroos.com.au/news/so...match-auckland
Moreover, Scotland and Ireland, like all European national teams, will be unavailable due to UEFA Nations League commitments.
If we can set up 3 friendlies versus Scotland, Ireland, and Mexico I wouldn't complain as much.
Because Scotland and Ireland play similar football to Wales. Many of their players are playing in the EPL/The Championship. They have quick paced and physical players who can test our domestic players and help them get familiar with how Wales/England will play at the World Cup.
I know Mexico haven't been great these days, but they are still a tough and will be tough against their following friendly opponents (given their loss and draw vs. Uruguay/Ecuador. Mexico are a team who are highly competitive and hate losing, even in friendly matches. Especially to South American teams. Their analysts rip them a new ***hole and have been doing so because of Tata's decisions.
So if we get Ireland, Scotland and Mexico I would be content. Now, if we can get Ireland or Scotland, Mexico, and a European opponent who has qualified to the World Cup, that would be awesome.
I don't know guys.. I'm trying to be optimistic. I'm not gonna excite myself too much though.
I think we have lost the golden opportunity to play Australia, or Peru. Both teams would have loved to play us as they prepare for their important playoffs. Of course that chance is now gone. Australia would have been a better test than Canada if you ask me and Peru is a great team. There still is the opportunity to play teams like Mexico, Argentina, Ecuador, Senegal, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Cameroon, Ghana, Uruguay, Morocco...I would even add some Europeans if we can fill a quite schedule for them close to the world cup. Teams like Netherlands, Poland, Belgium, Serbia, Croatia, Portugal, and Spain can be arranged. Some of these countries might want to play us due to similarity of style and play to teams in their groups. Also regarding paying teams and IFF not having money, we need to have sponsors pay for the matches and not our federation. 100 million followers are a very good market for many sponsors to consider.

If Team Melli plays one out of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Poland, Denmark, Hungary, Norway, Belgium(if don't ask for high fee) in November it would be awesome.
There should definitely be a strong attempt to play a freindly with the Republic of Ireland which politically is one of the few Euro nations that is not rabidly anti-Iranian, in fact many Irish people and even politicians like Iran.
