Another reality check for all of us to lower our expectations for the WC. For me getting to the next round is a pipe dream now, not losing games with embarrassing results - which i regard more than a 2 goal difference - is more of an acceptable outcome.

Sad but thats the reality with IFF & current coaching staff.

Abedzadeh stinks, Beiro all the way and he should recover his confidence from Persepolis. Abedzadeh is Davari 2.0.

Noorafkan is gadget bench player at best. I’m not worried about CB cause we still have kanaani, shoja, and PAG. LB is an issue

Nourollahi is really average. Not sure what he provides besides long shots

Above all else, it is astonishing gholi gets so much play time and STARTS under skocic. He is terrible as a starter and is super sub at best

Only confirm starters for me: Beiro, hosseini , kanaani, shoja/moharrami, eza, Amiri, JB, azmoun, taremi

Imo this is the best possible team but I think hosseini will start over PAG due to his long injury time, unless PAG has a fantastic 2-3 months in PP. Only other concern is speed in midfield but at this point we have to play Amiri LB because hajsafi, milmo, and noorafkan are not good enough

I cant rate the players but sadly we are in big trouble, i even get now why Jahanbakhsh is on the bench in his team, he nearly loses 50% of the ball he gets .

I am very afraid that the team will break apart before WC, dont have motivation going to WC knowing everything is BS ..... something big needs to happen NOW

If only you noticed how exhausted our players were on the pitch after Algeria match. Imagine camp in Doha and then flying to Uruguay. They would be destroyed physically after that match. Ideally we should havenhad more teams even possibly Uruguay in Qatar...

The point is we can’t rely on Skocic exactly because of IFF mismanagement; he just doesn’t have the heart, brains, or balls to overcome IFF or our opponents.
By the same token how did CQ manage lowest possession stats in WC history and a 3-1 loss to Bosnia, as well as the Japan AC fiasco?

It's like saying how did Skocic qualify us to WC from the jaws of defeat and disaster?

Coaches can do so much. Anyone doubts Skocic is trying as hard as he can should have a reality check. Yes we all want the biggest name for TM...I've said it countless times I would love Pepz Mourino, heck even realistically Halilhodzic! But we got Skocic, he got us here, and he is dealing with IFF like every previous one. He handles his stuff more privately than CQ.

I also can now share with you all that while Skocic was in Europe he did arrange a camp in Croatia and a match with former Yugoslav team qualified to WC. I also know IFF vetoed cause cost of match and camp was not covered by the host. This comes from someone I know personally who has some connections with TM and football in Iran in general. It's not Skocic fault IFF is so incompetent.

I watched the full match and took notes.

Sadegh Moharrami actually did very well. I give him a 7/10.

He made 3 mistakes. But other than that, he was contributing to plays, making clean tackles, intercepting balls, juking his 1v1 opponent and making space for the triangle around him to create plays..

On 1-2 occasions he even left his post to center midfield to help clean up the mess.

Also, I’m not sure if Skocic instructed him to go up the flank or if Skocic just doesn’t care what Sadegh does. Because the big errors Sadegh made were due to leaving his position open for Algerian left mid/wingers to attack.

I wouldn’t give Sadegh anything lower than a 7/10. I may do an edit of his performance later this week.

I was very impressed by Aref Aghasi. I swear to God I had never heard of him before because I haven’t followed our league this year. He was solid and it was his first appearance in a Team Melli shirt. You could tell he’s hungry to keep a spot in the squad. He made many contributions in defense and a few times in attack. As a CB I wouldn’t run all the way up like that, but his efforts eventually resulted in the goal. He got the ball to Noorafkan. He also made 1 mistake.

This TM was the same TM as it has always been. This very team with the same players and same tactics/game plan would have easily beaten Bahrain/Iraq/UAE/Kuwait/Syria/Jordan/Saudi Arabia/Oman and all that where they are unable to punish us for the mistakes our players make. You get any stronger team and they will punish your ass. At the finals we will be badly punished particularly by an England team that never makes an error and just look for errors from the other side. We don't have any error free players, apart from one or two who are mostly error free. That is it. If our players don't work on their skills individually, we will return home with a maximum of 1 point at the finals.

Thank you, that all make sense. I was (am still partially am) in give Sko a chance camp and I agree that he may be dealing with stuff in a more private and less confrontational way than CQ which is ok.

The only think that worries me is his bizzare choice of noorafkan as CB and giving on 6 mins to AS. Those defy logic and make me worry about his judgement.

But then. Do you remember CQ and Cheshmi Last WC and the uproar in this same forum?!

Every coach makes questionable decisions we fans don't understand. Who knows what's behind his playing of noorafkan. But we might be in for a surprise come WC time...that could mean he becomes a star or doesn't even make the bench. We can't judge yet as this could be Skocic wah of phasing him in or out or maybe cresting a utility role for him. I will leave this to karshenas to question Sko about.
