We can't judge yet as this could be Skocic wah of phasing him in or out or maybe cresting a utility role for him. I will leave this to karshenas to question Sko about.

Exactly. Friendly matches are to Annalyse players and their readiness.

The point is we can’t rely on Skocic exactly because of IFF mismanagement; he just doesn’t have the heart, brains, or balls to overcome IFF or our opponents.
He managed it by the Moroccan player scoring an own goal at the end of the game and by not scoring a goal in open play in 3 games or one goal in 6 world cup games.

Absolutely. That Algeria team was weak as hell. We could have easily beat them 3-0 but for the fatal errors our players gifted them two goals. A manger of a club can sort this sort of errors out if they are good enough managers but not in Iran. They just don't see these things to be important. Nearly all of our players are prone to make these fatal mistakes. No one even addresses them and they just see how great they were the rest of the game and "oh yeah he made a mistake or two but that is nothing compared to the rest of his game I give him 7 out of 10" sort of attitude. To me a player makes a couple of mistakes in a game he needs to go and work on them and if he does it again he will be crossed out.

TM lost on two horrendous giveaways. Players can not make such errors. Abedzadeh repeated an error from the S.korea game where he grabbed a hard shot which he should always parry to the sides. He should have learned when he gave a goal on a similar play against Korea. Those back passes by our team are a big no no and I do not know why they would attempt those. Hope we do not see such mistakes anymore even in friendlies. Positives were, TM was more solid individually than previously seen against S.Korea and other stronger teams, more combination plays between players, creating chances in free play, second half was better, Moharami was great, our goal was a nice team goal one we can score against any level competition, we have a very skilled team rather than the big physical work horse team, other than a few individual errors I thought our team defense looked structured and dealt at times confidently and easily with a highly skilled and fast Algerian team. Also given the temperature and heat in Qatar our conditioning was pretty decent. This will be key for us in the world cup. We need to be in the best physical condition to compete.

Some players need to play a lot better. Imo Gholizadeh has not played good in the last few games, and Azmoun is a shadow of his old self. We will be a much stronger team if these two especially Azmoun gets back to form. Azmoun has not been his old self since the previous qualifier round where we needed to beat Iraq, Bahrain...he just doesn't have that daft Nistlroyesque touch anymore. for some players building more muscle and weight will have counter productive results and i think that is the issue with Azmoun. I do not know how useful Ebrahimi and Hajsafi can be in the World Cup. It all depends on their conditioning but I can understand how this group and in this world cup we may need their experience but should replace them for Asian Cup.

I don’t know why but whenever Iran loses a game, I don’t want to have anything to do with football in any form for a few days. Do some of you feel the same?

Sometimes but football is in the offseason right now so there really isn't much happening for the next 2 months besides transfer news.

worst on the pitch were nourollahi and norafkan by far.

What troubles me is they seem like they are being given more responsibility, not less.

Skocic seems to think nourollahi has technical capacity to be this teams modric. Everything from the back is being funelled to him and he is a turnover machine, typically not even getting to the stage where he can misplace a pass, but rather losing it under half pressure from opposition midfielder. Nourollahi can have a role in TM as a sub potentially or executing a role of narrow scope limited to backing up ghoddos when he is dispossessed/covering ground/making 5 yard passes to other mids. Anything more and he is hopeless.

And how after yesterday's performance norafkan can still be invited to TM I dont understand.

If I remember correctly, Carlos Queiroz had banned players for back passing! He used to get infuriated on the sidelines when players did that! The team was so disciplined and organized. Only for Wilmootz and this clown of coach to ruin. Especially at their peak.

Mohammadi has probably recovered but based on form he might even be worse than Noorafkan now!

Ghodoos was injured versus Tottenham and is getting well deserved rest.

One thing I forgot to mention and no one else has mentioned that I noticed:

We really missed Amiri. Without Amiri we don't have a strong enough midfield.

See the Mehdi Taremi thread for my thoughts about the midfield (which probbaly deserves it's own thread).
