The funny thing at the end of the day is that these guys are just athletes. It’s not like we have our scientists and doctors and philosophers playing on the pitch. Mehdi's statement can be generously described as tone-deaf (he sounds exactly like dozens of the regime khayehmals and reformers). The people don't just have a problem with IRs mishandling and the outright theft of Iran's economy. The people have a problem with the whole of IR. It's very easy to get upset about Mehdi's statement...if you believe it is a good statement it means you are totally out of touch.

Mehdi does one thing well. That is football. He should just stick to that. All the accolades he gets goes to his head.

All he had to do was to say..."Ali Daei Ostooreh!" It would have hugely enhanced his image and without any risk! Mehdi...see how easy it is...

you seriosuly think they are selling taremi for 25mil in january ahead of inter matches? they wont even sell for 45mil! 50mil they are demanding, who you think they can buy for 30mil to replace a monster like taremi? Not even ronaldo can repalce mehdi right now.

Mehdi is freaking 30+ years old now .... he probably got no more than 2-3 years of top level performance left in him...?
besides he is Eyeranian .... thus not nearly as marketable as the prime-age and exhotic / exciting performing players the type of LDiaz, Nunez ...!
i know the timing is not particularly good for a Porto exit and his importance to overall positive performance of Porto is Immense, thus that may cause the club to say No to a decent profit for an aging player, who's got less than 2 years remaining on his current contract..!!
still i honestly think Porto is just a selling club and $25 mil will be luring enough to convince at least the front office of Porto to send him packing ..!!?

also another huge impediment to a transfer now is a clause in Mehdi's current porto contract affording him a healthy chuck from his the transfer fee to the next ensuing club..!! imo , that has always been the biggest reason why Porto havent offloaded him already for relatively healthy profits in prior year or so..!!

off course the Porto for time being put all their efforts towards re-signing him to a longer contract and removal of that kick-on clause and chances are although he'd stand to earn a bunch more in pay in the new contract, the pay package would still likely be more meager than what he would stand to get almost anywhere in EPL...!
