FC Porto trio challenged to outdo themselves in the final stretch of the season
Otávio, Pepê and Taremi could end the season with personal best records for goals and assists.
The final stretch of a season that has been full of ups and downs for FC Porto is approaching and there are several players who can end it with the best personal records signed in the blue and whites.
Otávio, Pepê and Taremi, as important players in the team's dynamics, have the extra attractive feature of adding to that contribution new numbers in offensive production. It's not clear that they will succeed, of course, but we are talking about perfectly achievable goals in what still remains to be played.
Otávio, who even recently scored for the National Team, can reach a personal record in goals and assists. Both in one chapter and in another, he needs three more actions to reach the seven accurate shots and / or the 13 offers, which would be worth not only new maximums as an FC Porto player, but also throughout his career.
The same can be said of Mehdi Taremi, who last season scored like never before, 26 times. At the moment, he is at 22 and he could have already crossed the bar if it weren't for the drop registered after the turn to 2023. He also scored for the national team after two games in which FC Porto was 0-0 (Inter and Braga), deserving a repair by Sérgio Conceição.
Finally, Pepê, who this season exploded in minutes, as expected, after a first season of adaptation to European football. With 3185, he is the second most used in the squad and needs two goals to improve the record (six) of his debut season at Dragão. The Brazilian is far from the 15 he celebrated in 2020 for Grémio – and he had turned 13 a year earlier – which is also understood by the frequent use of the right-back, among other positions. Even so, he has already reached the five assists of 2021/22 (a total of eight) and, at this level, he only needs two more for the best mark of his career.
Personal goals are not the most important thing in a team, of course, but they contribute to collective goals. Conceição is grateful for the inspiration while refusing to throw in the towel in the championship and is still in the competition in the Portuguese Cup.

porto been mostly struggling this year vs the packed & deep lying defenses ..primarily due to lack of incisiveness in the MF & transition game & some due to untimely injuries & suspension to key players.
I don’t expect Benfica to play compact & defensively, so it should be an exciting, end to end action game slightly favoring the home team…!
They may well lose it narrowly but highly doubt they’ll get blown away at home vs an opponent they know all too well .. unless they get red carded early i suppose ..!? which definitely isn’t outa of the realm of possibilities….!
mehdi needs to step up his game big time today … we keep coming coming up with all sorts of excuses for him of late but it’s obvious hes had a dip in form since the WC & in a bit of funk ..! Just lacking sharpness in and around the box & seems a step slow ..!
Personally Wasn’t all too impressed with his latest TM outings either ..!
busy not sure I get a chance to watch the game :/
but let’s Go Mehdi ..! 💪
