This is my strong belief about any hope of Iran not just for this WC but for building our future... Anyone who loves TM surely agrees
But it's really unlikely at the moment especially with current IFF
I'm not just thinking it might be Nekounam, i genuinely wouldn't be surprised if they do something crazy like appoint two coaches: Nekounam-Yahya, Mansourian-Nekounam etc....
Uuh what a possible nightmare. Iranian coaches who never agree with eachother on anything working in pair.. just waiting for slappingcontest live at worldcup badavi and rahman rezaei style over who to substitute.
if IFF really hasn't arranged for a replacement, what a disaster. sacking sko only made sense if you had CQ ready to go as a replacement.
unfortunately because sko lost the locker room and our players decided to air our dirty laundry on instagram, our hand was forced and we had no option but to get rid of sko....
all roads seem to lead to nekounam, and i think it'll be a disaster...new system, inexperienced coach, no time to prep or instill new methods....IMO keeping sko was preferable to bringing nekounam
i won't hold this against nekounam TOO much but i have doubts about his character. despite his european pedigree he still has moments that show he's very much a member of the iranian football swamp...including his arrogant and douchey comments towards sko a few months back. given our fragile state we need a coach who'll fight to keep hashiyeh away, not invite more of it.

With time people will realize how bad this decision was. They was too much hate on him from the start because of his CV. But him being foreigner and not iranian (with all their shortcomings) nor part of this full drama iranian ecosystem was a plus.
Anyways, since we qualified, we just have drama after drama. WC may be the big bang and honestly it will be deserved for most of the Iranian football family and their love for hashieh and self destruction.
We won't have cq, nor a good coach to overturn that. Our pool of players isn't that great either. At least expectations will be low.
That's just revisionism. There was plenty drama around CQ
I never said there wasn't drama. Some of which he invited.
But batting this away and creating a siege mentality - there are only a few coaches in the world who achieve this and we have had one of them.
My greatest pleasure in watching CQ TM was the unity on and off the pitch, which I hadn't seen in previous tournaments, years or decades. I don't think it is "revisionism" to state this.
i am surprised that even after all the training and the time being the assistant coach no one is taking Vahid Hashemian any seriously as a contender for the coaching position. Wonder if this is justified. He really needs to move and coach a club side to prove his pedigree.

With the disaster that Wilmotts was... Hashemian was present and in an interview after Wilmotts got sacked, Hashemian said he didn't see Wilmotts do anything wrong.
Precisely. The team is at a critical stage. You may not like Queiroz but, at this stage, he's the only one who has the know-how, the experience and familiarity with the team and the opponents to bring about a smoothe landing. Again, at this juncture and with this amount of chaos, not aggressively going after him and settling for an inexperienced Iranain coach could be tantamount to forfeiting the competition. If he's indeed available and willing to take the helm, and the fact that he possesses all the qualities mentioned, makes this all a great case of serendipity. Not sure if the ultimate authority on this issue is with IFF, but if it is, they should capitalize on this opportunity, even if some members resent Queiroz personally.
