Our squad has never been shitty. In 2014 our defense looked better although not by much. You see lots of 'desperate' defending against Argentina and Nigeria. If you re-watch 2018 the game against Morocco and Spain our defense was quite shaky. You will see many errors and desperate clearances and bad misses from Spain and Morocco. We should be realistic, we got lucky but if we play like that in 2022 we will pay the price. You say we were unlucky to concede in the dying minute but truth is we were lucky not to concede earlier.


Also it was not luck that ball went in but rather a defensive collapse by our team where a Leonel Messi is left open to take that shot. He has lots of goals with the same shot! lots. There is footage of him scoring that shot in practice like it's nothing and from farther over and over again. First error was Gucci came back too far, second error Nekounam was out of position he or Ando should have been the ones to go on him, and third Gucci did not take the shot away and played the dribble where he should have never allowed Messi to take that shot. We were unlucky though that the ref did not call the clear penalty for us.

This idiot named Mansourian. One interview he talks about the respect Skocic deserves and isnt getting and in another he chops the man down. Yes GN, Daei, Yahya all rejected the hot seat when things were down. You want to criticize Skocic fine but don't say the names you rattled off are better coaching choices. They all feared taking the job when things were bleak. Even now with TM qualified to WC those names have rejected the position.

To say he failed with Khooneh Be Khooneh and Malavan is also not a complete reflection of the facts. Afterall these are not powerhouses of Iranian football with big money and mafia behind them...so ya Yahya, GN and company should have better records with the players and money they have in comparison to smaller teams.

Also very stupid to comment on a guys health issues. Kick the man while he is down. Hey Mansourian, what have you done coaching wise that gives you any expertise to criticise the coaching choice...better question to answer. To say Skocic and not someone like GN has football Mafia behind them in Iran is asinine.

Also Mansourian stop being a hypocrit. Afterall from 2010-11 you became TM coach after coaching at Pas Hamedan for less than 6 months only if recall correctly. No other coaching experience at all. The fact he gets air time is just baffling!

Just in 2014 group stage alone:

Mexico 0-0 Brazil
Chile 2 -0 Spain
Australia 2-3 Nethetlands
Costa Rica 3 -1 Uruguay
Costa Rica 1-0 Italy
Costa Rica 1-1 England
Ecuador 0-0 France
Portugal 2-2 USA

As you can see many big teams don't always win. But it's 1 match. Unfortunately WC is more than 1 match even at group stage. What we did against Argentina was nice but as results above show nothing special in the grand scheme of things.

Yes he was the coach for 1 match but his position was for almost a year between Ghotbi and CQ. Regardless he accepted a position with only a few months coaching experience in Hamadan. After TM he went on to coach u23 TM as well.

unfortunately i see a very slim chance of it happening .... and as i dreaded it from the get-go i think some goozoo domestic amature coach like Talebi will be brought on as a late replacement for dragan and we just have to hope and pray for player's gheyrat to earn us a Tie or 2 to save face and leave the group stage with some dignity ...!!
