My experience at the world cup was the opposite - I was so impressed with the discipline of TM and pundits and other fans I met in brazil and russia were too. "You guys play like a well-drilled club side". Sure some Morocco fans said we were lucky to win after the game (we were, their team was worth almost 7 times more than ours and played throughout european leagues) but no one wasn't impressed with the shape of our team.
I think some people just aren't realistic, simple as that.

Nigeria - Possession 69% to 31% in favor of Nigeria
Argentina - Poss 75% to 25% Argentina
Bosnia - Poss 66% to 34% Bosnia
2018 -
Morocco - Poss 68% to 32% Morocco
Spain - Poss 78% to 22% Spain
Portugal - Poss 74% to 26% Portugal
At the end of the day, I care about results and CQ delivered.

The only thing we have going for us now is near home field advantage in Qattar. It is up to the raw talent of the players and the fans now to elevate the team. I'm still hopeful this is the year to get out of the group stage, coach or no coach. Is Jalal Talebi still alive?! Let him take the reigns!

The style of play was absolutely childish. We could barely put 2 passes together. I am just not sure what is this love fest people have with CQ. I think after 8 years of coaching we have enough data to analyze and determine if we made any improvement under CQ. The answer is a flat out NO.
IFF or whatever ruling organization made a horrendous mistake by sacking Skocic. He got us out of the worst situation possible and qualified the team to WC. With less than 4 months to go, we sack our manager and expect to replace him with a miracle worker.
Anyone expecting Iran to string together passes against Iniesta, Messi, Di Maria, Ronaldo, etc are delusional. It's Iran.. Our team is not very stacked on paper. Sorry

A bold move but the right move. We were headed for 0 points in this world cup. If you knew, you knew.
The guy was so out of his depth as many of those performances in the qualifiers evidenced. We rode some luck in a few a games and relied on some individual quality to get us through.
Every team has a bad game here or there but the consecutive amount of games we ran around like headless chickens was unforgivable, regardless of the fact we were winning the games. That's not what successful teams do, just look at the win column and think all is rosy.
It's now up to the IFF not to screw this up with another shit appointment. No Daei, No Nekounam... there are seasoned international level coaches available who will take a short term deal. We can take a risk here and the rewards could be great with decent friendlies, good camps, better conditioning and far better tactics... we could finally qualify from the group stage.
With the right coach we can draw with England (or at least avoid an inevitable trouncing we would have got under Skocic) and more importantly we can beat USA and Wales on our day.
We sacked Ivic days before the 98 World Cup and ended up beating the US. Hopefully history will repeat itself on that result alone. Would love it if we then beat Wales and qualified from the group.

I asked for names, name one player who is "CQ's player". Who?! to suggest that he developed these players seeing them three times a year after they had already reached the heights of their football is bending and presenting facts to suit your own perspective. People keep saying "back to back world cups" fact is he is the only one to be afforded the opportunity with not 1 team but two teams from 5! and did not have Ausie, Japan, Saudi in the group. Fact is we are supposed to qualify from those groups as top two and anything else is an utter failure.
Longest clean sheet, where did you get this? I am pretty certain we had clean sheets for years in 70s and 80s. Most point in a world cup?! Is this an achievement? you can make up all kinds of things and make it sound good the fact is advancement from the groups is an achievement getting 4 points is not. especially when it came on the back of an own goal and 0 goals in open play. This is a fact not you creating an achievement out of "most points ever at a world cup". Another fact for you mr. factual, whether Egyptians want him or not does not make him a success at Egypt. He did not win a cup with a team that has won the African cup the most of all African countries and he failed to qualify them to the world cup. He failed with Columbia, Portugal, Real Madrid, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, U.A.E...So it appears that you are the one that facts mean nothing to. The only place that did not boot him out fast and he did better than 50% is Iran. Get your facts straight.
A couch doesn’t need to breastfeed every player to be his. This current squad is the team that CQ assembled, and ever since his departure only minimal changes were done. In contrast under his management, he had changed almost 70% of the team structure by end of each qualification (that’s called team building). Also, may I remind you that up to few years ago the core majority of TM locally selected squad were almost an even split between Persepolis and Esteghlal, and in fact there was always bragging right when one team had more players selected. So, spare me the nonsense that every coach would have selected the same players. We know for a fact that Branko wouldn’t have selected Taremi if he was the TM coach, and he is now our arguably our most successful European based player ever!
Longest clean sheet is a worldwide Guinness record of 12 consecutive matches (which went through our entire final round of 2018 WCQ up to the last game) – probably means nothing to you any ways, unless it was Branko’s record. Also, one thing to bend fact another is to lie about them. To you, it seems that what defines failure from success is only winning Asian Cup or the African Cup. Also, if we were supposed to qualify to the world cup on every edition, then why is it that we played only 5 times. Here is a reality for you, our infrastructure is worse among the top 10 Asia sides, our management is among the worst in Asia, our league is in a financial disarray and has not won a continental title in 3 decades, we are sanctions and our political image is of such that no decent team wants to play us, there is a massive corruption in the country, and we do not have funds to pay our coaches in time or even offer bonuses and incentives to the players. With all that it is only fair to give CQ the credit of what he has achieved with TM and I believe he gave us our maximum potential.
Also, just because Egypt won the cup in the past doesn’t make it an instant shoo-in that they must win it every time. Their current team has no place to be in the top 5 in Africa let alone to be an AFCON runner up. If this argument of only winning continental cups is considered success, then based on your logic Germany is a failure as they couldn’t win the Euro Cup for almost 30 years and so is S. Korea (most Asian qualified to the world cup) for not winning continental cups in 60 years.
Having the right manager for a team is like matchmaking, they don’t all succeed in every team they go. Guardiola was a king in Barcelona, would you say that he is not a good manager because he is not pulling the same results? It is easy to sit in your underwear on the couch and judge coaches based in winning percentage but the reality of evaluating results is different than that. Every team has an objective and a ceiling, for example I don’t see Branko’s failure to qualify Oman to the world cup as bad - because this was Oman’s ceiling (period).
All seriousness though, this personal hate of yours toward CQ is not normal. Did he steal your lunch or wife or something?
