now if we were facing the like's of our wc18 group opponents, then yes i agree, in all likeliness we woulda gotten our assess handed to us by every damn team, especially in the spain and portugal matches ..!

This has been prioritised on multiple levels and in different areas - Just watch today's England women's performance against Norway (8-0 victory for England) - the focus is now completely on the physical: Fitness, conditioning, strength, speed, no pauses. Gheyrat is in the realm of fantasy. It was a steamrolling of strength and conditioning and the English teams are now told not to let up and just keep the optimum level throughout the ninety minutes.
We are presently lacking that.... What's more is that CQ identified the importance of the psychological approach to the game for our brittle national team players, yet we are so far away from that at the moment and gheyrat alone cannot defend us against hungry opponents who will not stop once the bombardment starts
After 3 decades of religious watching Iran play, this is the first time ever that I am psychologically preparing myself from a Saudi-style 8-0 humiliation (and I suggest all members do the same). Even in 1998 I believed the western media score predictions were stupid, and Iran's gheyrat will always prevail. I was right then.
I hope i'm not right now....

and yea The only legit Damage Control move left for us is bringing back CQ .... and that so ASAP..!!
That dude is just about the only coach/figure-head that over 90% of our current main squad still very much know/respect/fear..!
complain all you want about his ultra defensive tactics (afterall no coach is above tactical criticism..!) but no coach in the world for us is as dedicated and more importantly as Detailed of an Organizer and as thorough of a Planner to reach a particular goal ..!!
This man leave abso-fuckinglutely nothing to Chance and will precisely plan for everything down to every damn minute detail...!! ( afterall the biggest reason we are in our current SNAFU is down to IFF's massive fails on the planning and preparations dept along with a coach that lacks the experience/reverence/ reputation/ natural authority to hold these assclowns in the federation to live up to their responsibilities or at least the bare minimum of their jobs.
and needless to say the majority of our main squad and especially the key players are already very familiar with CQ's tactical demands..! not to mention that imo his ultra conservative and counter attacking game tactics are the near perfect approach for getting positive results from this group of opponents..!

i dont understand, who fired sko to begin with? was he actually terminated or was it a rumor reported as fact?
i can't imagine a worse combination of events. canada friendly canceled, qatar camp disaster, social media division, fire sko then keep sko (all the while not so secretly offering the job to daei).
shame on the authorities for letting this happen.

tc thought tc though the bc will respect their decision.but lke ali arvin used to say such comittee = kashk AND TODAY WE SAW
THE KASHK.
so to answer you he was never fired. he was suggested to be fired....
we will go through this again in september..
the new president will have new people on the tc and bc which will make decision.
this decision is good only for 40 days.

We have the benefit of learning from the past:
1) Unity is everything - we had our most talented squad of all time in 2006, with so many midfielders who weren't even called up to the final squad because of our depth, but would have featured in any other squad.
Yet having disunity sabotaged our chances against a weak Mexico and a team which had players without clubs (Angola). For many of us who joined these forums before 1998 world cup, this still remains the most disappointing time in Iranian football.
2) We can change coaches with three weeks to go to the world cup (May 1998) and still outperform any expectations, as long as the players are united and everyone is playing for each other. There is still time.
We need to learn from history.
And disunity will always be with Croation coaches.....only a high calibre coach who is well respected can bring unity, croatians dont get respected because theyre second class coaches

Daei was finished and useless, Karimi just came back from a long injury. His peak was in 2004 like mahdavikia whose peak was at 2002/2003.
Hzshemian wasn't bad but not world class either and Zandi did very little in his career after all.
Teymourian and neku were good but just popped up at the world stage. The rest was mostly average to shitty IPL players (IPL games were just unwatchable at these period)
Our GK, left back and khatibi were pure joke. Madanchi didn't do anything worthy in his career.

The 98 coaching change last minute doomed us. Plain and simple. Those who do not understand history are doomed to repeat the mistakes of past.

the 98 team overall had
defense issue.
our midfield and forwards where awsome.
that team really collapsed after beating china at home 4-1,
they thought thats it they had qualified . THEY WENT IN TO HASHIYEH FOR NO REASON BLaming maylikohan for holding
doa komil prayers, making players do NAMAZ in the locker room.
even if maylikohan did all that , why make a big deal out of it?team was rolling.
we had beaten china 4-2,tied ksa 1-1, tied kuwait, and beat qatar
3-0 ..then we beat china HAD 11 POINTS first place comfortably, THAN REVENGE PLOT AGAINST MAMAD MAILI GOT UNDER WAY. we went to ksa gave up if recall correctly a 89th minute goal lost 1-0 AND HELL BROKE LOOOS.... we did not win another
official match until u.s game ...lost to ksa,tied kuwait,lost to qatar,lost to japan,tied australia 2 times..lost to yoguslavia..beat u.s LOST TO GERMANY.
maylikohan should of never of gotten fired.. and we would of had a better world cup with mamad mayli...
