1. Mirshad Majedi just did what Mehdi Taj wanted - to not change coaches until election. Giving the new administration a chance to pick their own choice.
2. Mirhsad is currying favour from the next IFF head and former Sepahi, Mehdi Taj. Mirshad is only running as a formality (he didn't even want to run and was persuaded after "some people told him to run."). Taj is too connected (beyond football) and Majedi (not so connected) is just following orders.
3. In order to lessen the political argument that Skocic can bring to FIFA (that he was removed due to political interference), Majedi/IFF can say that 'Look, we kept you on despite recommendations by our own legally-sanctioned technical committee not to do so. We were not persuaded by Khamenei tweet, MoS etc. We are an independent organization.'
4. CQ said he is not negotiating with Iran because Iran has a coach. It would be against FIFA regulations and illegal to do so. But he also tweeted just a couple weeks ago that Iran is one of the "greatest football families" he's witnessed, signifying that his heart is still with the team and there has been backdoor communication.
5. The axe to this would have if would have got an Iranian coach. Because if one was chosen, then Taj cannot come and say I want to change it despite this coach not playing any games with TM etc. he would have no case to sack him and they would have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to them.
