Moharammi's poor technique in ball reception constantly puts him in trouble.

Offensively he has been good, crossing much improved. Just put in another good one that petkovic couldnt get on target.

Defensively he needed to give himself a few yards head start, that same guy made out to in run few minutes earlier he also didn't track and his RCB bailed him out.

Not the end of the world, last game other guy gave up crucial pk.

childish mistake, shows how little experince he has at this level. You put your arm around his head for what reason? They will give penalty 10out of 10 times for that and the attacker would never score on that either way, you just gift them a penalty for no reason

It's his number one weakness - overhead balls.

It was a very dumb mistake, and underlines his room for growth in defensive decision making.

1v1 he is a very solid defender, even tonight nobody really dribbled past him. Physically he is strong, and he has great recovery pace. He showed a lot of good stuff offensively today as well.

But in that situation he tries to compensate for initially wrong positioning...question is does he need to? The guy still has to take down very long ball while running at full speed perfectly into his path, and then finish past a great GK. Probably all he needs to do is try to get around him and knick the ball after the likely not perfect first touch.

An experienced, top RB plays the percentages and trusts his GK and at most tries to lean into the guy a bit. Arm around the body is pk every single time as mentioned.

Hope the coaching staff can really work on these points with him. He has still improved tremendously this year, showed it for TM as well. But these are the differences at the top level in CL, and if he wants to make jump to bigger leagues.

Better it happens now and he quickly learns from it than in WC I guess.

He is having a very good season so far and he looked much better for Iran playing under CQ. He has done a lot of very good things this season and played well against Sterling and Leao in the last two games in the group. As some were saying commentators praised his overall game today apart from the penalty mistake.
Work on the mistake with his training staff, put it behind him and move on to the next game.

from on paper being a group with two clear favorites this has turned in to one of the closest and most exciting groups.

Salzburg and Dinamo have been big surprises.
