Truly though it is probably our worst center midfield ever ! I can’t think of a weaker center mid lineup in our modern football history.

I’d go with Ghodoos, Ebrahimi and Ali Karimi.

And you all know it pains me to include Ali Karimi.

If cq comes in though don’t be surprised if Saeed starts. CQ loves him and played him when he was riding the bench in Russia and Belgium too.
pre WC in 18 Saeid finished season as fix player in Russia, he had great games as DM anchor vs Spartak and other big clubs. Rest I totally agree with!

(P.S...think Saeid was more motivated under CQ to at least appear like he was fixing club situation)

The injuries have really hurt us too.

If Sayadmanesh and Amiri weren’t injured I would have gone full nuclear option and put in Amiri and Taremi with Ebrahimi in the middle. Then played Sayyadmanesh and Azmoun up front.

Just watch Hajisafi play this position with Skocic and Noorafkan get LB !

even here...you realize he is playing in 3 man CM line. Never in a 442 would you start a player as immobile and technically weak as cheshmi.

I honestly doubt even peak Ezatolahi has ability to play in 2 man CM line. It takes extremely mobile players who are also physically and technically great, something we just do not have!

I am not fan of Cheshmi either but as you said we are really thin there.
Same as AK. At best he should make squad, but i won't be surprised if he even starts

            Let's talk about something realistic.

Pleas explain how that’s not realistic? Saman especially who’s primary position in England has become CM and his entire TM tenure under Skocic has been CM too….so I’m very interested to know why it’s not realistic?

Under Sko? You mean very few min he got and was benched after for Nour?!?
He was winger under CQ. Primary doesn't mean anything when you simply don't play more than couple games there.
In England he played more as winger than CM. In France and Sweden be was more CAM.

Haji sorry but you’re incorrect, he has played CM for Brentford more than any other position and sometimes has played as wingback as of late last season and under Skocic he played in 5-6 WCQ’s as CM. His primary position he has played in for both club and country the last few years has been CM…..that is a fact.

He only got 3 start out of 10 and in 2 of them he was out around min 54 and 60.
I know people like him here and he is nice kid all thar, but i will not put my money on this guy to start at WC. And from whatever game i watched from him in Eng, he sure wasn't playing as CM role. He was either winger or attacking midfielder

We should have the same thread on the LB position. We only have bad options : Amiri injured, Hajsafi not reliable, Milmo out of shape since last century and Noorafkan nightmarish.

Imo LB, CM and RB back up options are critical

I certainly consider him a CM option. Yasin is also currently playing as an 8 for sepahan.

                      I would go:

                      1. Ali Karimi
                      2. Omid Ebrahimi
                      3. Vahid Amiri
                      4. Saman Ghoddos
                      5. Yasin Salmani
                      6. Ahmad Nourollahi

Of Course this is all assuming Ezatolahi doesn't have a late ressurection...

If we play a midfield 3:

                      Karimi----Ebrahimi---Ghoddos

                      Is competent enough.
                      No Mehdipour?

We truly are fucked in this department... the only position as uncertain as our left FB.

Ezza has no business in the starting lineup (or even the squad tbh). Even if he signs with someone tomorrow morning, he's far removed from anything resembling consistent good performances.

Ali Karimi is still a question mark and will need more than one good performance in the Turkish league to prove himself.

Saman is obviously the best CM we have, but unfortunately he is coming back from an injury and seems to reduced to garbage minutes in his club with no particular position there.

Salmani is not ready yet. He lacks the vision and IQ against top competition. He can not try to dribble with his head down through the entire England team like he tries to do almost every time he touches the ball in PGPL.

Amiri is dusted, and Ebrahimi is just too old to be our starter three games in a row against high intensity opponents.

Mehdipour and Norullahi are subs at best.

With a that said, if Karimi stays healthy and keeps up the above average performances, I'd start him and Saman together, with Ebrahimi and Norullahi as the back up options.

I was warning you guys months ago that Ezatolahi couldn’t be counted on for this tournament. Nice to see you guys catching up. Even Cheshmi being discussed now…
