Oh boy, This past week, I have been so worked up and engaged with Mahsa Amini's death that I completely forgot about this great friendly match. Only to find out about the match and its results on YouTube while browsing to find some news about Iran's uprise.

What a fantastic result, finally after a tough week, this made my day and brought a smile to my face with some glimpse of hope and happiness. I only watched the highlights and seemed like our boys displayed an extremely organized football and solid defending skills. So proud of our Team Melli.

How sweet it is; Goal by Taremi (subbed in) Assist by Ansarifard (subbed in)

I hope y'all are in solidarity with our people while enjoying this win and loving our TM!

We should thank Senegal for giving us CQ.

I can watch this goal a 1000 times and still wanna watch it one more time..
perfect speedy runs and onetouch play. reminded me in a way of the russian goal vs TM in preps for wc2018. this is a high caliber goal. decicive no exctra touches and very hard to defend against. all the players involved (3) ran perfect and smart, no hesitation. This is one of our nicest team goals in a long long time vs a good opponent. it will be so awsome if we can make something like this at world cup.. also credit to taremi for that litle bodymove tricking the defender right before he gets the ball, to create that extra space and win the extra seconds needed to calmly make the goal.

this is the goal im reminded of in a way, the 1-1 goal for russia. starts at 1.20

(sure thing Uruguay would need Cavanis tearing runs and movements in this game, that would tested our defence in a different style)

I am obviously pleased but I didn't think we did great...

Uruguay came right through our defences a number of times and they were unlucky not to have scores a couple. Abedzadeh's save and footing it away, Torabi's clearance from the line, Suarez's missed shot and the missed chip were all instances when they broke through our lines. Also physically they were able to shake off our defenders or take the ball away from our midfield a number of times.

This will give CQ plenty of work to fix. Onward to Senegal to be tested again differently.

We needed the result for self-belief...that was perhaps the best thing we will have gained from this game.

All these ppl talking shit about this is skocic team please stop spinning the truth

Only 2 players sadegh mohrami and shoja khalizadeh werent involved with CQ the other 24 players were , that is the first lie/ misinformation

2nd , Omid nourafkahn , is out of the team , he was top 11 players for skocic
3rd, the confidence the team has is something else now

Anyone questioning the importance of CQ being there is just cause drama, a lot of ppl on this board are not qualified to criticize CQ anyway , Skocic was different he wasn’t any good anyway ….

CQ is the master of making big teams look ordinary against us:
                        -Argentina
                        -Spain
                        -Portugal

and now Uruguay. Yet, I know many of their fans will say: “Oh, it was a bad game from us.” The same thing the fans of those other teams said. We’re a good freakin team. When will they learn? Dameh CQ & bacheha garm!

A lot of people are upset that the TM players celebrated their goal instead of taking a calmer moment given recent events
I think in the moment they may have forgotten, in this picture you can see Saman gesturing to them to calm down:

Im glad they at least made the profile changes

Another record set by Iran with CQ!! This is the highest ranked team we have ever beaten and we did it exactly according to plan. We are the ONLY team in Group B who won their friendly today. The World Cup is looking bright!!!

Wow man.. it's freaking URUGUAY. What did you expect? That we'd totally shut them down while performing Tika-Taka out of our goal box, all the way to their goal box, and then tap it in?

Uruguay is clearly the better team with regards to technical ability, and their tactics were on-point. However, we were disciplined and a bit lucky; I think Uruguay deserved at least one goal for all the great chances they had. At the same time, I don't care. The best team on paper doesn't always win, especially in this sport. Endurance, aggressiveness and mental fortitude play a huge part.

I read this thread expecting some dissent, but my goodness, there are still too many fans here who are so critical that if they applied the same scrutiny to their own lives, I doubt they'd pass any test.

CQ came here for $50000.. are you kidding me? A coach of his caliber? Who does that? He does, because he loves the team and the people. We are blessed. Let's enjoy the ride, no matter the results in the WC.
