but honestly, where is CQ going to bring these amazing players
who are going to shut down Harry kane for 90 minutes?
Or is CQ going to give a kiss of life to every TM player and blow
into their sole that magic breath that turns them into players
who can cope well with rushford, kane, sterling, foden et al?
many people here bang on about Skocic winning weak asian teams!!
Forgetting completely that these very weak teams
had invested hugely to qualify for this Qatar WC! They were
much stronger than they had ever been. Let's not forget that.
If your system relies on IPL players to 1v1 Sterling, yes we will get cooked. If your system has lines of defense that Sterling cant get through it worked.
Morocco played aggressive attacking and ultimately left with 1 point last World cup. Even in their friendly with the US they got destroyed playing open football. Right now, the US and Wales are hoping for an open game against us because that plays to their strengths.
The US SUCKED against Canada and Costa Rica who played defensively and countered.
Similarly Wales did alright versus Ukraine defensively. Ir Bale and James have no space, no party.
There are many more forms of football than tiki taka. The 4 time WC champions Italy never played an attackint style in their wins.

Yes Canada won against USA and Mexico but I would argue it wasn't system as much as playing in freezing temperatures. This same canada used the same plan and lost to Honduras, Costa Rica, Panama, and tied the likes of Jamaica when the Temps were more summer like. In Qatar playing like WCQ they will buckle badly.

I truly want to believe those adamant about CQs return that things will change and improve but I'm not convinced yet.

Becareful friend. You have had a streak of great calls, but all good things end and falling off a high horse hurts a lot more than being down to earth...

We need an attacking strategy that is true and we have evidence of some that may work based on early EPL games(pressing/through balls behind Maguire, closing the middle of the field off and countering when Alexander Arnold and Walker push up). What would be a death sentence is if we get ready to attack England in concede in the first 5-10 minutes due to being too open. So in the stages of play, I would prefer to start off closed and open up as the game goes on similar to what we did vs Spain/Argentina where you clearly saw we did have chances in those second halves.
Being able to play in multiple different ways is a good team attribute that we need to work on especially as we play in the Asian cup in the summer against teams we should beat, but now is not the time. Senegal and Uruguay should expose our weaknesses and allow us to correct them before November.
