Our futsal and Beach Soccer do this on the world stage and defeat the "stronger" teams regularly. It's more than infrastructure and grass roots...some of it is psychological I.e., self belief and worth. If you believe you can do it, you can achieve it then you are more likely to succeed than having a defeatist attitude.

Senegal has world class players all over their pitch. Their starting defenders+keeper alone are worth more than our entire squad.

Yes, Iran has less of a talent pool, apart from Taremi and Azmoun, than all those teams

The blunt but honest thing to say is just wake up.

Yeah majority of people love him
Great video. And kudos to 360 for summarizing, in a 5 minute video, the Cliff Notes of thousands of comments and hundreds of pages of social media posts here and beyond.

At some point the penny will drop for some of our fellow fans....

Maybe not today or tomorrow, but it will at some point..

Morocco, Senegal etc... have lots of players who made bad transfer decisions like our best players - but their pools of talent and squad values are 5-8 times ours. That has to click for even the most stubborn at some point, no?

Or is this conversation doomed to continue for eternity...?

They have world class players. Why can't we? Senegal deals with corruption and poverty lile many African nations. Morocco, Nigeria...I can continue. Look at some of the decision making of our players...Ezzatolahi, Pouraliganji China move...so many others.

We can't control the stupid decisions of our players unless we have the coach make specific calls in regards to playtime on Team Melli. It is difficult to compare to some African countries because many of the best African nations have significant scouting set up by big teams in top 10 of Euro leagues that used to colonize them. Thankfully, Iran does not have such a history but there are differences.

Grassroots is extremely important and the culture of rigorous unearthing of gems in youth football in Iran does not exist to any potential right now. There's a long list of problems that need to be addressed before it ever gets off the ground and even the removal of IR(to facilitate privatization of clubs/TV money) may have to occur to get the funding for the youth academies.

I don't think we are behind Costa Rica or Egypt. Costa Rica has usually been a negative defensive team whereas Egypt in the last 10 years has relied on some better defenders and Mo Salah to carry them.
Not sure we can be compared to Mexico who have significantly better youth teams and a general apathy for defense. Their football culture has never emphasized defense as far as I remember watching football so obviously they would appear more attractive as their identity goes farther back in that direction.

Grass roots is not as poor as you think in Iran. I have connections to both Esfahan based clubs and their youth development is miles ahead of what my son experiences in Canada. At age 4 here they were playing red light green light while Sepehans youth academy had them doing drills with cones and nets.

The issue in Iran is money and to some degree nepotism. Only those who can afford it or have connections can send their children to these academies. As adults, our players also chase money over development and commitment to improving overall. I don't think Skocic was off...our players can improve technically but it requires sacrifice...somewhere along the way the messaging was lost. You know you have issues when a key player requests clubs guarantee playing time before signing with them.

no. it's done. i'm not sure how many here are familiar with college football, but cq's time with iran is very similar to jimbo fisher at A&M, he had all the time he could have possibly had with a chance to go far and surpass expectations, but after enough time has passed you just have to move on.

LOL we all know what the source is. 🍕
I went to Sharif University. I'm a superior genetic mutation, an improvement on the existing mediocre stock.

Guys, just let it go, he can't fix the glaring issues in the squad and any ultra defensive setup will just dull our brightest point of the team right now. Our midfield is somehow slower now than our mid30yr old Nekounam/Ando were in the 2014 WC.
