so far he has proved a lot of ppl wrong by just coming back...lets hope it continues.

It may be short space of time but from mental perspective the effect will still be there, and that may be the most critical in many respects

Well i got mixed feelings. I love CQ and i was hoping to get him for Asian cup 2023. But we got him now which is way tooooo late. Looking at the experience of other teams that changed their coach (majority of them), it didn't turn out to be a good choice.

So I have feeling that this WC we will be a disaster and CQ will get sacked and his publicity amongst iranian people will be destroyed. This is what IR wants. I don't think anyone can do anything with just 4 friendly games and 2 months training sessions.

In other words IR will act like they listened to people and brought CQ and when we fail (god forbid), then they will start bashing CQ and belittle him.

So overall I'm not feeling good about this decision unless we do well in WC and qualify to next round.
Again I repeat CQ for Asian cup would've been ace for us.

PS don't reply with 1 or 2 examples that you found on internet trying to prove that changing coach just 2 months before competition is a good idea. Cuz its not. This might turn well for us (atleast what I'm hoping for) but generally its not good ... !Thanks

He has not come back yet....I hope Taj knows what he is doing because the disappointment will be too great if CQ doesn't sign!

I understand your sentiment, but this is not simply getting a new coach 2 months before the world cup. It’s re-hiring an old coach who not only has a deep understanding of iranian football, culture, and mentality, but a familiarity with well over 50% of the team’s current squad.

We know at the very least, he won’t do worse than Skocic. I for one am still in disbelief on how we pulled this off. It’d be foolish now for England, Wales, and USA to think they can sleep easier at night after hearing this news.

                Happy for team melli!

This is a different team bro. 40% of players are different and the old players are not just as good as they used to be. Mohammadi , PAG , Saeed ezza, Azmoun , beiranvand , jahanbakhsh and even amiri (injured) are not as good as they used to be. etc....

Man we're talking about world cup. Lol I mean like i don't play PS for 2-3 months and it takes me few days to get back to my normall fifa skills, so how do we expect CQ to get the team ready after 4 years in just 2 months is crazy.

Well we won't never know this for sure but.....
I still beleive if players were united didn't cause hashieh and we had karim bagheri in the staff, our team would've done really well with skocic. However things got crazy when azizikhadem got sacked and mehdi taremi and other players started bringing hashieh for team melli.

It's always between CQ and Branko? Both didn't achieve enough as evidenced by their achievements!

The CQ rehiring is sad in alot of way he was our coach for 8 years we didn't achieve anything (please don't bring up the own goal). He didn't even leave a legacy his team totally collapsed as soon as he left.

Failed in Columbia, failed in Egypt!

What is he going to bring us that he didn't the first 8 years he was with us? More 11 players behind-the ball? Can't put three passes togather?

I am sure we will get some applause for our "effort"

Don't even get me started on Branko.

Really disappointed we deserve better but we are stuck in this loop always the same individuals.

I hope I am wrong we have our best ever forward line, I sure hope that azmoun and taremi are not going to be remembered for their astute defending at the world cup.

He knows our best (most important) players: ARJ, Taremi, Azmoun, Ghoddos, and Ezatollahi. They’re all much more experienced now (though Ezatollahi has significantly regressed). Beiranvand hasn’t been convincingly unseated as our starting goalkeeper. In the defense, CQ knows Kaanani and Hosseini well.

There is no new player who has convincingly “stole” a starting position from our 2019 squad under CQ that he is unfamiliar with. It’s literally just Moharami.

We will never know for certain how Skocic would’ve done this year, but, if I had to make a educated guess, I seriously doubt he would surpass CQ’s upcoming results. This is not only due to his resume, but tactics. Skocic wants to implement a more offensive brand of soccer, however, you need more preparation, much more friendlies to achieve that, and we have severely lacked in that department. CQ emphasizes more defense, which is much more easier to achieve when you have limited preparation, and is more practical approach.

A lot of relief that CQ is returing. Had shelved my plans to go to the WC while sko was the coach, now i am wishing that i should have gone.

I may not make a difference in the outcome but the respect the team gets along with discipline will be beneficial for us.

I still think this poll was a good idea so that we know the sentiments around here. My prediction is that if we have a free and fare referendum in Iran on Islamic Republic Yes or NO, the NOs will get the same 90% that CQ got. Hopefully that day will come during my lifetime.

                                Go TM!
