Do you ever have a normal take about anything??...Anything at all??
You honestly think supporting murder of women for "improper hijab", being ok with mass murder of 1500 protesters over just 3 days, and not minding rape of political prisoners is just a matter of opinion??
There is no way Iranians don't know about these issues, and there is no possible way to be neutral about them! So the genius take here is that a person who supports this crap or thinks it's no big deal is just a guy with "different" views??...Are you serious with this stuff?...
Some of us either have no clue about what actually goes on in Iran, or they're revealing a lot about themselves here.
Well that's enough aggravation for me tonight. Honestly some of this stuff is beyond pathetic.
To be quite frank many people in Iran from peasants to elite unfortunately have no clue what is going on and believe contrary views. Many believe the west is formenting unrest. Many of these folks don't want to believe their loved ones died for nothing defending IR and their homeland against Iraq. Stop being a keyboard warrior...some people are truly revealing themselves.

Everything seems so divided. I tell people that having our TM in the WC, protesting the regime, and performing well is the best thing they can do. But there are so many people saying that they should refuse to go and drop out as protest. I just don't see the point in that, they'll just get forgotten. Having them protest at the world's biggest sporting event is such a better move. I just can't get through to people on the other side no matter what I say...--------------------------Beiranvand-------------------

Second, if the security situation for the freaking Austrian friendly camp was so severe that players couldn’t even post a message on their social media, what makes you think it will be better during the World Cup? If they have to IR will confiscate all devices and station a guard outside each players room.

You think the mullahs/IRGC are gonna care? Yeah Khamenaei is gonna be in tears especially since I heard him and his sons had a world cup pool set up.
Oh wait a minute! The mullahs dont give a shit about football! They never have; this isn't Putin's Olympic teams where the oppressive government sees the team as a propaganda symbol.
The mullahs see football as an annoyance at best, a sign of western decadence at worst. Iran could win 10-0 or lose 10-0 and the regime would be indifferent.
You want to put pressure on them? Get oil workers or miners to strike. IRGC's number one priority is the flow of money. The obscure we see eventually. The completely obvious, it seems, takes longer. ~Edward R. Murrow

I think it's fair to say everyone on this forum loves TM. Deep down none of us want TM to have a game cancelled or god forbid something happen to the WC, something that we all have waited 4 years for. Reading the comments, I think some want to have their cake and eat it too: we hope and pray for the best for the protests, but at the same time let TM play, almost as if we don't want one to interfere with the other. And so we put down the "keyboard warrior" etc etc.
As Webmaster stated a few days ago, for those of us with deep roots in Iran, and those in Iran, Iran comes first and TM distant second. I, like many others, have teared up and cried in the past few weeks looking at the footage or listening to a recitation of the section on zahak in the shahname. The pain inflicted on generations of Iranians is long and scars run deep, and perhaps this is not felt as much by second/third generation Iranian diaspora. In the past few years, and especially past few weeks, the foundations of the dark and damp prison have been shaken, and the mullahs are weaker than they have ever been in the past 40 years, and there is a feeling of change in the air. So, yes, many of us expect the leaders of various fields to help free the shackles of the vast majority of the people.
The time for vasat-bazi is over. Public pressure can be an effective tool, because without it absolutely nothing would change. If the public is pressuring their celebrities to be with them, too bad, that is the price of being a public figure. The one point where I disagree with some on this post is over the specific actions or degree of the actions that individuals need to take. Revolutions need pressure to be applied from multiple points. They need MLKs and they need Malcolm X's at the same time. If everyone on TM resigns, that would be great, but reality is that 10-20% of TM (like the general population) supports the IR, and then a big section are apolitical or afraid to speak out. I, for one, will wait to see what the individual players do and welcome all forms of protests, large and small.

A teacher of mine in medicine taught me that before you order something or give a medication you have to think about what the impact is. If helps patient, good. If it hurts bad. If it does nothing, BAD.
Banning Team Melli does nothing but make people abroad feel a hollow pride like they did something when in reality its useless.
Energy should be invested elsewhere. I would like to remind everyone that the only group of Iranians who have ever equated Iranian sports success to regime propaganda are Mujahedin Khalq.
Team Melli Players are just players at the end of the day, they dont have the responsibility to be civil rights leaders, just as you dont expect Jordan and Lebron to be Gandhi and Mandela in the US.
People need to stop making this a witch hunt because at the end of the day if they are only posting things online in support, they are taking zero risk and have NO RIGHT to ask others to take greater risk.

Some of you overestimate how much a TM message in support of protest would do.
You also have forgotten how little the gov cares about football and public pressure. No TM in World Cup ? That’s great for IR. Even less excuses now for people to be in the streets.
Grow up and focus your energy where it needs to be. As far as I’m concerned the vast majority of the accounts online asking for TM to resign or be expelled are “اکانت های نا امن” or just deluded people with no understanding of the real world.

It's a self-defeating proposition (calling for TM ban or boycott). We know Ali Karimi, Mehdi Mahdavikia, Hossein Mahini, Ali Daei etc. because of Team Melli. These are the same people who are standing with the people in the Iran Revolution. Without Team Melli, we would not know them."This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

the water is muddied, and all the real enemies of Iran are now also
involved and want to direct it to what benefits them undermining
the integrity and sovereignty of Iran,
Iranian people and Iranian women.
