The main contenders for winning AFC Asian Cup are well organized by arranging friendly matches with teams from other FIFA ranking in brackets.

    🇯🇵 Japan (20)

    - March: drew Uruguay 1-1, lost to Colombia 2-1
    - June: defeated El Salvador 6-0 and Peru 4-1
    - September: scheduled an away match on the 9th versus Germany

    🇰🇷 South Korea (27)

    - March: drew Colombia 2-2, lost to Uruguay 2-1
    - June: lost to Peru 1-0, drew 1-1 with El Salvador
    - September: scheduled an away match on the 7th versus Wales

    🇦🇺 Australia (29)

    - March: defeated Ecuador 3-1, lost to Ecuador 2-1
    - June: lost to Argentina 2-0
    - September: TBA
    - October: scheduled an away match on the 13th versus England

    🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia (54)

    - January: played other Arab teams at Gulf Cup
    - March: lost to Venezuela and Bolivia 2-1
    - June: no international matches
    - September: most likely will face Mexico in a friendly

    🇶🇦 Qatar (61)

    - January: played other Arab teams at Gulf Cup
    - March: no international matches
    - June: lost to Croatia U23 2-1, defeated Jamaica 2-1, was 1-0 behind to New Zealand match abandoned, scheduled matches at the Gold Cup versus Haiti, Honduras, Mexico
    - September: will most likely play Russia in a friendly match
    - October: will face AFC teams at Jordan Tournament

    🇺🇿 Uzbekistan (74)

    - March: defeated Bolivia 1-0 and drew Venezuela 1-1
    - June: played against AFC teams at CAFA Nations Cup
    - September: scheduled away match versus Bulgaria on the 6th, will also most likely play USA

The following are less organized when it comes to arranging intercontinental matches

    🇮🇷 Iran (24)

    - March: defeated Kenya 2-1 and drew Russia 1-1
    - June: played against AFC teams at CAFA Nations Cup
    - October: will face AFC teams at Jordan Tournament

    🇮🇶 Iraq (67)

    - January: played other Arab teams at Gulf Cup
    - March: lost 2-0 to Russia in an away match
    - June: lost 1-0 to Colombia in a friendly match
    - September: will face AFC teams at Thailand's King's Cup
    - October: will face AFC teams at Jordan Tournament

Among non-contenders Jordan, Thailand, Indonesia seem to be more organized with friendlies versus UEFA, CONMEBOL and CAF teams. Most other non-contenders such as India, Malaysia, Palestine, Hong Kong, Lebanon, China, Syria, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Vietnam, Oman, Bahrain, UAE seem to participate at various AFC friendly or regional tournaments or face AFC or OFC teams in friendlies.

Team Melli with a FIFA ranking of 24 unable to arrange decent friendly match is just bullocks. Arranging matches versus teams from CONCACAF, CAF and available UEFA teams (not in top 20 FIFA ranking) should not be difficult. I do not understand why FFIRI is keep chasing Arab teams for friendly or ask them to be invited to their tournaments?

Mancini : our goal is to win the Asian cup. We know there are some top teams like Japan Australia and South Korea but we will do our best.

Mancini is well aware who is coaching TM

And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

To be fair all those teams have made it out of the Group stage of the world cup, Iran hasn't.

I officially put us higher than KSA at the moment…they’ve lost 5 straight matches and got border line embarrassed by a weak Costa Rica team.
SK doesn’t look all that good either since having a good WC performance.

pending another win and decent showing from us vs Angola….my power rankings for Asia at this time would be:
                        1. Japan
                        2. Australia
                        3. Iran
                        4. SK
                        5. Saudi’s Arabia
                        Team Meli Iran
                        Perspolis FC
                        Malavan Bandar Anzali

Too optimistic for me...no way we are above SK. KSA will know that they beat the world champions and the best player when it most mattered...after a string of bad friendly losses. We are right at the bottom.

Australia is the weakest team in terms of individual players among the big 5. They don’t even have a great coach.
they just have great belief, run non stop, and Are super physical.
