Thanks for directing me to this...Rahman's statement is the best I have heard of any footballer.

رحمان رضایی: ۴۳ سال قتل و جنایت و دزدی کردین باید در دادگاه ملت محاکمه شويد https://www.iranintl.com/202210082440
43 years of consuming and stealing, murder, crime, theft, oppression, sedition , lies, corruption, prostitution and...is enough. Now you "must" be tried in the national court.

"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Moving Taremi discussion here as I find it more appropriate. If it violate the rules i happily delete the post and comply.

Regarding Taremi I think we are naive if we make the assumption that his parents gave him iranian roshan fekr upbringing. That is always the case and people have different starting position regarding enlightenment. It takes time to grasp what you actually are convinced of visavi opinions you have inherited.

If he is religious then msny of his soc media posts can be explained by the fact that he is shia. Posting what grand akhund says is comparable with posting or believing what the pope says.

Right or wrong this is what I believe goes on in his head.

Another thingy iranians need to learn is not showing their opinions down others throats. But putting pressure on someone based on opinions and beliefs is something reserved for those akhunds we detest.

This! There is a slight other related issue. I want to start by saying I absolutely detest Torabi's stance, but if people want to drop him because he causes disharmony within TM then we have to have a critical eye at Sardar and Taremi as well. I mean they practically had a feud going on and camps created within TM. I do think CQ can get all the players on board and put differences aside for the sake of people's TM.

Now with that said a team is like a family. Not everyone will get along with everyone for various reasons including beliefs, competition and, perhaps even socioeconomic status. Iran has always had various ethnicities, religions, and beliefs amongst its peoples. We cannot shame and paint all people the same. You won't have a nation then but rather a dictatorship...we know how most of us feel about that now don't we?

Taremi vents on social media: "I have a deep sadness for some compatriots"

The Iranian forward launched criticism towards the Iranian government, saying he did not trust politicians.

Mehdi Taremi, FC Porto forward, published this Sunday a collapse on his personal Instagram account, launching harsh criticism towards the government of Iran, a country where he is from and which has witnessed several protests due to the death of Mahsa Amini, a young woman who died after being arrested for wearing a hijab - Islamic veil - incorrectly.

"I don't understand politics and, to be honest, I don't trust politicians anywhere in the world. As an Iranian football player who grew up in this society, I just speak from my heart. I believe that violence cannot be a solution for anyone. days, and after seeing so many harsh images, I have a deep sadness for some compatriots", he began by writing.

"The violent events we see in some videos are unbelievable and painful. As an Iranian who loves his country, I am opposed to this behavior. Especially beating women, which is against our religion and our culture. There is no need to write that I am a person against it. That is why these days, seeing and reading the harsh criticisms of many of you, my dear compatriots, made me, does not make me upset", added Taremi.

If we look at the entire history of Iran, from what I remember Ancient Medes & Parthians (Arsacid Dynasty) had Council of Elders who discussed and made decisions on behalf of their people, also Cyrus the Great was a tolerant ruler. All other periods, views of others were not tolerated.

In this forum, there are several members who just want to force their own opinions or views upon others, at times even making accusations about forum members or respond with insults.

Unfortunately Iranian mentality is "My way or Highway". People who are different either get silenced, assaulted, tortured, imprisoned, killed.

Iranians are not ready to live under democracy, they are used to live under authoritarian regimes be it Theocratic, Monarchy, Military, Communist dictatorships. State religion always was a problem in Iran where people of other faiths were persecuted.

The difference now is that 75% of Iran is under 35 years of age and most of them rowshanfekr and secular, i belive this generation is the one that can transform Iran to a secular, democratic republic, or maybe i am dreaming who knows

I agree. But I will also say this we have to start somewhere. If we keep saying we are not ready as a society for democracy then we can't expect change. It's like riding a bike. We need to start with training wheels and get things in motion. There will be pain, setbacks, and suffering but if we don't do it no one will set up a democracy for us.

What I meant is, in thousands of years in Iran history, Iranians mostly did not tolerate others who have different views. Their mindset of "My way or Highway" also does not allow them to listen and respect others views that are different to them. As an example of this, is this forum itself when several members just try to force others to believe in their opinions and if others don't, then they get insulted. Now if this forum is just a small sample of Iranians worldwide, imagine how 85 million Iranians in Iran are like.

So it's good to see that you guys and some others are optimistic that Iranians are capable to some how change their mindset and mentality.
