Would you prefer players and coaches of TM to make a stand and boycott the world cup?

Anonymous poll - just to gauge the feeling in the forum.

If there is an increased chance of change happening with the boys boycotting Qatar, would you want this to happen?

The World Cup is the biggest stage in world sport.

I personally have been looking forward to this world cup for so long, even more with Queiroz back. These boys have worked so hard and I look at many of them like family, they don't deserve this. But I can't stop thinking about these kids who have died, been tortured, had their bodies defiled. Our football players are now getting arrested and getting their passports taken - so sports is mixing with politics whether we like it or not. If enough isn't enough now, when will it be?

      Play the World Cup!
Do something pre-game and everyone wear wrist bands.

I would prefer that they would play and there demonstrate kind of protests, like t-shirt or black wristband and so on. No playing World Cup wont happen because there are always khayemal players like Torabi that would do everything to play world cup so the current squad wont gain anything by not playing.

Play and protest, rather than boycott and get forgotten about.

I just don't see how that would help in any way. I.R. does not care about stuff like this. This is the biggest stage and the players/fans can make a statement there if they participate. But cancelling/boycotting would only contribute to the isolation of Iran, which btw only benefits the Mullahs and harms the people.

Why not doing both, play the WC and make a big stand at WC. In my opinion that would be more effective.

Not participating would be the worst idea.
Take a stand while playing would be the most effective and especially if we get out of group stage.

Play in the World Cup - 100%.

Make the biggest stand on the biggest stage.

And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

Unfortunately things would have calmed down by then so no point in boycutting.

The biggest statement can be made by these players by going to the World Cup playing these games well winning going to the 2nd round …

And in the press conference expressing their true feelings the IFF the government can’t do anything against these players while they are at the World Cup ..

Loaded poll options. Should just be a yes/no
some could argue making the "biggest stand" can happen during some sort of display during the games

Just saying this from an analytical perspective, personally I'm not sure so I cannot answer whats the move.

Right now IR's biggest fear is that TM plays in the worldcup and iranians in the stadium chant "marg bar seyed khare" in the stadium while the whole world is watching. They know a victory in anyone of those games could potentially bring out millions into the street which they are so fearfull of.
Why would any Iranian loving person wish for a TM ban or a boycott ? It's really not that complicated.

Team Melli is the people's team. It does not belong to the IR. They should play. They should win. And they should demonstrate to the world that we are IRAN and not the IR.
