CQ's gameplan does not depend on Torabi and he's not indispensable. Even if he was (which he isn't), who cares? This team represents Iran and Iranians and with the inclusion of Mehdi Torabi and Vahid Amiri - that brings the whole integrity of the TM into disrepute.
But if CQ refuses to drop Torabi regardless of your views? That's the question I'm asking.

I will be very disappointed - but will continue to support TM because I know outside him and Amiri, they all support the Iranian people.
CQ is looking at it from a purely footballing perspective, which he should.
"This is a totalitarian system whose presence people feel in their blood and in their flesh on a daily basis. And it’s one that does not grant freedoms of any kind, or accommodate people’s demands in any way. What is increasingly clear is that there is clear demand for change in the regime. What the people want is regime change, and no return to the past. There is a very real possibility of regime change." - Nasrin Sotoudeh

I appreciate your level-headed response. I think this is all we can do. Reality is folks like Torabi have existed throughout Iranian history. The more you try to convince them otherwise the more entrenched they become. Only some profound personal event will change their minds.
From a footballing perspective he was excellent vs uruguay.
From other perspectives despite his political stance he seems to mesh well with the group. I remember in previous camps other guys joke with him/take the piss about his politics actually. If the other players had an issue with inviting him/his presence in the camp, then for sure dropping would need to be considered.
But simply for being on opposite side I think it would go against fifa rules and what we are all fighting for. Torabi, if he merits it from technical perspective, should be on the team. Nobody's religious, politicial affiliations or ideas (so long as they themselves are not actively committing crimes/harming others - which I do not think there is any evidence of torabi doing) should come into decision making. This is a BS principle that IR has used in all sectors of society, job market for past 44 years. Giving preferential treatment to people bc they were hezbi or some hearsay implied they were more religious than a competitor.
TM is ultimately a representation of Iran. 2/26 guys seem to at least publicly be on side of regime, to varying extents. Statistically that seems about right.
Even without all the political side, the guy shouldn't be in TM squad. Yes he did the job against Uruguay and better than expected but nothing mindblowing either.
If he grows a neck, then he’s in. JK, political stuff aside, idk what the obsession was with this guy. People talk about Jahanbakhsh how they should be talking about Torabi. I guess the expectation of him is just lower? The only goal I remember in Torabi’s TM career was against Uzbekistan in a friendly and people going nuts like he was the second coming of God himself. I see him as a net negative, he dribbles too much, doesn’t make the right decisions for TM (Uruguay game being a prime example. He has Jahanbakhsh running along him to the right wide open on a breakaway and he takes a horrible angle shot right at the goalie then flails at the rebound). Just a useless and brainless player on the pitch and I see no value in him.
At least Jahanbakhsh has hit some important goals for TM and done something of note in his club career. I, for one, am an advocate of taking the strange Jahanbakhsh hate (the guy scored several important goals in our current WCQ campaign) and shift it to Torabi. Being on Persepolis and never achieving anything of note has helped Torabi’s career, because doing any successful dribble gets people salivating like rabid animals, Jahanbakhsh scores important goals, but since we expect him to be at his peak AZ level, he is a “bad” player.
this is hypocritical... on one hand we say we shouldn't mix politics and football to not get banned in WC. on the other, we say kick torabi out bc he supports IR. yeah, screw torabi, but i dont think he should be a started because he is IR supporter, i just think that the guy is not a good player in the first place lol
can f off. A couple of weeks ago, he wanted to show his undershirt with the support of "security forces" - who are literally killing our people. How much evidence do people need? Amiri comes out with an IG story saying something about protecting police cars. Our people are fighting for their lives on the street and some cannot even go and say that certain players should not be banned? Also, with the likes of Torabi and Vahid Amiri, this doesn't become Team Melli - it becomes team-e-IR.
.
Thats quite a jump. 2 out of 26 players automatically becomes Team-e-IR?
Ghoddos, Azmoun, Taremi, Ezatolahi, Majid Hosseini, PAG, Ansarifard, Sayyadmanesh etc. are not part of the team or...?
Out. And not just because of his views in isolation. You think his own teammates on TM feel any different about a khamenei khayemal than most Iranians here do? No, they won’t respect him. Will cause friction on the team. Not putting Amiri on the same level as him because at least his attempt at neutrality (bs) still gives him plausible deniability. But showing khamenei t shirt after scoring is just cringe. Look at how they wore black jackets before the last game. Imagine the hashieh if torabi was there being the only player to refuse. Queiroz may like him but he has the iq to understand this is at play
If I’m completely wrong and his presence leads to no hashieh and he actually will be a net asset then sure he should play but I just don’t see that being the case
