Gotta give it to the Aussies, they played really hard today and they did not deserve this cruel defeat.

Well...the way Italy defended with 10 men for 40 min, Australia never looked to score in the end.
It never looked a legit penalty, maybe the illusion of the defender trying to stop the Italian from going and maybe (just maybe) thinking that the Aussie lad tried to "hold on a leg" that made the ref decide a penalty.
However, I agree that shouldnot have been a penalty and Materazzi should NOT have been sentoff...but two wrongs never make a right.sigpic

What the hell is up with that celebration of sucking your thumb like Totti did? first of all it looks pretty gay, but more importantly Marquez already used that celebration after his goal against Argentina so it makes him look dumb copying someone elses celebration...its like TM doing Brazil's 'rock the cradle' after we score.

The penalty call was a little dogdy of course, but in the end, the defender (whether intentionally or not intentially) impeded Grosso's progress in a real goal scoring opportunity. Now whether you guys want to admit it or not, I believe (after watching the play 2000 times) that the ref made a correct call. He could have also not called it with okay reasoning, but at the end of the day, Grosso would have had a clear path to the net.
Secondly, Italy got screwed again. The red card to Materazzi was simply STUPID. It was NOT a tackle from behind, and he had clearly gone for the ball but just got there too late. He deserved a yellow 100%, but a red card was SO damn harsh. I felt like pounding my head against the wall.
In terms of the celebration, i have no clue wtf totti was doing. but who cares. he played great when he came on and scored a deserved goal for a very passionate italian side. well done to them.
