the problem is that when it comes to the best player of the world it always goes to the offensive players. Players like cannavaro and buffon are also way up there as the best players of the world. In this WC up to now Cannavaro deserves the "Best player". Just look at how amazingly mistakeless and confident he is in defense. Also after he defends his service to the offense is perfect. Remeber the 2nd goal of italy vs germany. The germans were attacking and cannavaro jumps out of no where, rips the ball away from podolski, pushes the ball forward and runs with such a great pace and starts the counter that leads to the goal.

very well said. He just puts his head down and runs towards the goal like a Donkey before either blasting the ball to Row Z or on rare occasions delivering an awful cross. You are right, there is no end product with him, he can run at defences as much as he likes, but before he actually starts scoring goals from his runs and producing goal assists.....he can in no shape or form be labelled the best player in the world.

Just the other day Martin Tyler was saying that Henry is one of the few strikers in the world who rarely scored in the 6 yard box becasue he always scores his goals from far out and if he scores in the box it is becasue he took the ball in there himself.

he's played as attackin mid a few times for arsensal. But yea man, pirlo GOOOOOOD. I dunno how much u guys have focused on him. This world cup pirlo has had the most accurate crossings. That guy is a genious in terms of technique. watch some of the free kicks he scored for milan. Ball goes over the wall and suddenly it pulls down and goalie has no chance. Also should not foget to mention the last chance he created for grosso scoring the first goal for italy against germany. Btw, Italy's current squad has SOOO much depth and experience.

Not only his shot, free-kicks and crossing. Thats just a tinny element about Pirlo's football, the more "eye-catching" talent he posses'. The thing I like about the guy and why he's the best is coz he's all over the place all the time.

80% OF ITALYS ATTACKS START THROUGH THIS GUY!! He plays his football like a point guard in Basketball. HE IS SUCK A TEAM PLAYER. And soo talented when goin forward. He is like Makelele and Zidane rolled into one hell of a player.

His defence play, in how he is strong on the ball, how he holds the ball, how he uses accurate short passes to distribute the ball, how he comes in deep to recive the ball and how he counters resemble MAKELELE. How he attacks resemble Zidane...but he's got more accurate long and short range passes THAN BOTH!!!!
