well Zidan was not consistent through out the tournament, he did miss one game due to suspention as well,,,I kind of think as great as ZiZOO is, the italian defender must get the award as he was rock solid through out the games and he rarely made mistakes, if any!

Only 2 goals conceded by the defence he led, one of them own goal, the other after a non-existant penalty. And also no yellow cards for this gentleman. Phenomenal!

Cannavaro has been the best defender this entire campaign (Terry, Ferdinand etc please note and learn) and has been an exceptional leader all the way for Italy. He is just a treat to watch as a defender, and he has handled losing Nesta, Materazzi's suspension vs Australia and left partnering with a 23 year old, and showing his calm, cool and silent look at the penalty shootout.

Zizou is the only one deserves it....Actually, its official now that he has won it..Canavarro also played well but didnt have the same impact on his team as Zizou did.....
