Zidane is arrogant, he provoked Materazzi.

    http://www.soccer365.com/EUROPEAN_NE...9_123633.shtml

Marco Materazzi has admitted insulting Zinedine Zidane in the World Cup final but denies referring to terrorism or the France captain's mother.
Italy defender Materazzi was the victim of a vicious Zidane headbutt that led to the French talisman being sent off during extra-time in Sunday night's showpiece in Berlin.
There have been several theories as to what Materazzi actually said to bring about Zidane's amazing reaction.
But the former Everton man told Gazzetta Dello Sport he definitely did not call the French skipper a terrorist, and claims he did not insult the midfielder's mother either.
Materazzi said: "I held Zidane's shirt for a few seconds. He turned to me, looked at me from top to bottom with utmost arrogance and said: 'If you really want my shirt, I'll give it to you afterwards'. I answered him with an insult.

Why was he holding his shirt and impeding Zidane in the first place. Materazzi provoked Zidane by his action of hold the shirt and pinching him in the chest.
The REAL. The LEGEND. Since 2001.

Oh dear oh dear ... it's good that a mentally ill person is trying to justify his pathetic actions now. Hope his career ends in shame and disgrace.

        > I am not cultured and I don't even know what an Islamic terrorist is.

Oh for God's sake Materazzi, give me a break. Unless you've been incarcerated for the past 5 years there's no way in hell you don't know what that is.

I'm not going to say he's lying because for all I know the reports could be wrong, but the way I see it, the guy's just playing dumb to get out of a situation that could potentially seriously damage his career.

well, i definitely don't believe what he's saying. Materazzi is by far my least favorite of the Italian teams, and even in the serie A, he does some pretty stupid things

also, it should be noted that Zidane does have this wierd side to him once in awhile where he just loses it..it'd not the first time that he's been sent off for these sorts of offenses

Mine too! Plus the least favorite in Spain, France and Germany!

But I think Zidane lost it becasue of the huge pressure on him. When you are stressed, angry and frustrated (look at his face after Buffon's save) it's enought to hear a small thing and buuuuuuuuuuuuum! explosion!

Zidane hasn't said a word until today and this to me shows that he knows he made a mistake. and I don't think he will say what Materazzi called him. (I think he didn't call him a terrorist) He will say that "He insulted me and I buttheaded him back! I made a mistake, Sorry France!" That's just my prediction and I might be wrong.

But looking at the tone of the media and news tells me that the story will change from calling him "terrorist" to "whore-sister"!

                  Let's wait and see.

Have you played it before? FYI, it's part of the game! and there is a ref to call it a foul or not.

The rest of the post isn't yours but the title. I can't believe you wrote Zidane is arrogant, I just can not, specially you say you love this guy. Whoever love this game and seen Zidane knows what kind of personality he has.

That's good to know how you classify people.

well, the media can never be trusted and only Zidane and Materazzi know what happened.

I don't necessarily believe the "lip reader" stuff saying that Materazzi called him those things.

I too think Zidane will come out and say he made a mistake, but who knows. I for one would like to hear out of Zidane's mouth what was said b/c i think he is honest and would tell the truth.

                        let's just wait and see
