    Could Italy Lose The Cup?

I know this sounds dumb but have a look at this.

According to FIFA regulations: ( from http://www.fifa.com/documents/media/...ary%20Code.pdf )

Par. 4: If any player, association or club official or spectator perpetrates any kind of
discriminatory or contemptuous act as described by par. 1 and/or 2 of this article, three
points will automatically be deducted from the team concerned
, if identifiable, after the first
offence. In the case of a second offence, six points will automatically be deducted, and for a
further offence, the team will be relegated.
In the case of matches without points, the team concerned, if identifiable, will be
    disqualified.

(PAR 1 and 2: Par. 1: Anyone who publicly disparages, discriminates against or denigrates someone in a defamatory
manner on account of race, colour, language, religion or ethnic origin, or perpetrates any other
discriminatory and/or contemptuous act, will be subject to match suspension for at least five
matches at every level. Furthermore, a stadium ban and a fine of at least CHF 20,000 will be
imposed on the perpetrator. If the perpetrator is an official, the fine will be at least CHF
    30,000.
Par. 2: If spectators display banners bearing discriminatory slogans, or are guilty of any other
discriminatory and/or contemptuous behaviour at a match, the appropriate body will impose
a sanction of at least CHF 30,000 on the association or club that the spectators concerned
support and force it to play its next official match without spectators. If the spectators
cannot be identified as supporters of one or the other association or club, the host
association or club will be sanctioned accordingly.)
Would FIFA be able to disqualify Italy if Materazzi's racial comment did infact violate the rules?

Highly doubt this would happen, but we'll see what happens. At the very least, Materazzi should be suspended for a couple of matches.

Good on them if they do it. It's the ultimate justice for a nation that openly condones and promotes racism in its football.

Highly unlikely that it would happen. It would be just to hard to prove and turn out to be one players word against anothers.

I would like to see it happen but I think the mach should be held again with out materatzie in it. teh winner should be champ.
this would send the massege that player and fans do not have the right to put down others.
but it would never happen as italy has too much power and it is a country that fifa will always back up.

BUDDY, FIFA has represantatives from France, NOT ITALY.

                Ever hear of Platini?

Italy came into the world cup without any help, they have amazing players, an amazing coach and an amazing team especially this year.

                They deserved the world cup.

Lol it's funny.. i was going to start a thread on this, so i came to check and i see that once again Simorgh jan was the quickest (by far ). I'm happy to see there are still some people that know football...
all you guys that say that it will never happen are maybe right (i think so too) but the reasons you give are BS... i mean it is the rules, we are not here to discuss if it's a good rule of whatever, with our technology we odn't need Materazzi to admit what he said to proove it. So i think that FIFA inplace of trying to take away Zidane's trophy should start looking at this case more seriously.. i mean normally speaking they should disqualify italy and france should be the champions!
But like i said there is a big difference between what should happen and what happens normally... let's see then
                        The quotes are back!!!

Zidane himself ruled out the racist insults. So, such a rule won't apply, besides, there is no points 'knock-out' stage and obivously "FINAL".

However, the abusive players were subject to the red cards, whom here there were Zidane and Materazzi. Zidane got his own, Materazzi is yet to get his punishment which the FIFA committee must act accordingly to their rules.
