Van Persies was pure skill whereas Alonsos was the luck of the keeper being off his line AND slipping over as well.

so Alonso doesn t get credit for noticing the goali being out and from that distance placing it on target? just wondering
I m not trying to say his is the best because I like spain, I just think that if you re gonna have a list of goals of the whatever, alonso s goal would come before van persie s.....

186 jaan, I think Alonso's goal was great and he is pure class but van Persie's goal was one of the most impressive I've seen in recent years the height and speed at which it came to him coupled with the speed he was running just to get to the ball makes it almost unbelievable.

how often do u see a goal like VP's?? how often do u see a goal like Alonso's??

The answer is a few times a year a lucky goal is scored from over the half way line where the keeper is off his line. However you very RARELY see a perfect volley at that height, speed and distance.

it takes a certain amount of skill in accuracy to hit the target from that range. it's not a mere coincidence that Alonso has done it twice now in English football (using both feet) and I can think of very few others that have done it since Beckham.
