anyways, i think to be able to beat barca, or atleast knock them out of champions league, certain criteria are required:

1)first and foremost, the opponent should have a very strong and organized defense and GK. any team who doesnt posses this factor virtually stands no chance infront of this barca...

2)to be able to knock out or beat barca, the opponent should also have either a very coordinated midfield who can spread well in offense and play compact in defense, in other words, ideally a team who has good counter attacking abilities. OR
the other option is to have a highly efficient attack line who can score from the minimum chances they make.

3)having a player with special skills ON A HIGH LEVEL, like junino in freekicks, or ballack in headers, or c. ronaldo in dribbling will also help.

that being said, i think the team that closest resembles to those conditions is juventus!
they have a soild back line and GK, their midfield isnt that energetic but quite experience and very organized, and their forwards are very efficient both on ground and in the air. besides, amauri is quite good in the air and delpierro with his freekicks.

the other option is chelsea on a good day. their midfield can dictate almost any game to any opponent, their defense line is also good but their GK is inconsistent and.

man utd is my 3rd option, but i see their odds quite low to beat barca; so its really just juve and chelsea in my opinion.

any other team will have to have an exceptional day both in terms of luck as well as playing football to knock beat barcelona.

ofcourse, this doesnt mean that i think one of these teams will win the CL, this only means that only chelsea and juve in my opinion have the characteristics required to beat this barcelona.
Yeah that's pretty much it, in a nutshell. I remember 2 years ago Chelsea did this by being physically brutal and litterally beating and breaking down Barca players on the field. But that Barca team although one of the best ones, wasn't as good as this one. They have added another dimension this year and that's exactly the physical aspect. The new players compared to that period, like Abidal, Toure, Keita, Henry, Alvez etc. are all physically stronger and bigger than the ones before and even the little ones from back then, like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc. seem stronger (Messi is a great example) and I credit this to Guardiola!
I think in CL, the opponents will definately try to off balance Barca psychologically, by playing dirty. In Spain some teams have tried this, but it's not really in the spanish teams' nature so they can't fully execute it. But in CL there will be teams who have no problem executing such game plan and are actually masters of it and the 2 examples you mentioned fit the bill perfectly!

It takes a man to admit his team is faltering and his closest rival is breaking records he dreams were being broken by his team...with that being said, it suppose we'll never hear you admit it.
once again you miss the point. real madrid fans are humble but barcelona acts all wild when they achieve something. what does that prove? real madrid is overall better and we are used to breaking records.

what on earth does that have to do with me congratulating and admitting they are playing good? i already admitted barca was the best team this season so you are wrong again. next time read my posts properly and dont say i said or didnt say what you wanted me to say or didnt say so you can say what you just said.

once again you are wrong and are just like faraz. newsflash: what your brain thinks is not what i said or not said. i already applauded barcelona this season. just because my team is rivals with barcelona and we always argue does not mean i didnt applaud them. LOL at you for making such conclusions in your own brain. i know it hurts to see how unbiased i am so you cant use it as an excuse when i "own" you, but please learn to read.

Good points but I reckon the most important one is for a team to be able to run full 90 minutes without getting much tired. Getafe nearly did it to us in Nou camp, they closed down every single space after scoring and run so hard for 80 minutes but then they started to slow down and got tired and Barca scored the equalizer. Had they ran like they did for 80 minutes, Barca may not have scored!

Not surprising a Madrid fan would say something like this considering his team tried to injure Messi at every opportunity. The irony of all ironies is that Messi still ends up scoring and injures a defender (Cannavaro) in the process.

wrong again. madrid did not try to injure messiah. even messiah admitted it. and why are you arguing messiahs talent? i thought everyone here agrees he is the best in the world (except crystiana fanboys).

they just tried to scare him so he doesnt dribble anymore. there were no bad intentions.

actually, every logical person knows CR deserved that award. It's only inexperienced viewers of football that argue, and why? jealousy I guess, i don't know.

Milad, i suppose you know better than the players and coaches from the best leagues in the world...right...

either way, as menacing as the tackles were in that game, you can't expect anything less...he's a dribbler and he's bound to get fouled harshly. it's the rule of every football game.
