Maradona criticises Player of the Year rules

"Whoever thought that up is stupid," he said. "It's incredible, I voted for Ronaldo when I wanted to vote for Messi but I couldn't."
that's so weird how what i read said Maradona gladly gave it to him...(some goal.com article)!!

i think your's is more credible, so i'll take that as fact.

and it is an absolutely stupid rule...

either way, i think people are getting the wrong impression here...Messi this year has already outshown him in the 08/09 season thus far, granted. In the 07/08 season, Ronaldo was unstoppable.

Yep Ronaldo did deserve it. You're never going to win it unless you lead your team to titles and he won the double in addition to being top scorer in almost everything, what more could you ask for. Messi was injured for quite some time and Barca were in crisis, so you can't really expect a Barca player to win it anyway. Deep down I personally believe Messi is a better footballer and has always been this whole time, but the player who achieved the most in 2008 to deserve the award has to be Ronaldo. If Messi stays fit this year I can't see anyone stopping him from winning POY.

i suppose madrid winning an all time high 9 champions league is because franco forced europe to make real win right?

No it's because there was weak competition back then.

In the modern edition no one has even succeeded in winning it twice in a row.

real thinks they have any chance of the title this season, by bribing the refs they are willing to catch barca but Barca answer back by thrashing teams.

well yeah but... Barcelona and Madrid are teams with usually the best players in the world, and to make talented players work together you need to establish a system for that. And Guardiola has made the perfect strategy for players like Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc... to get used to.
