Avram Grant warns Blues boss Scolari

Luiz Felipe Scolari's predecessor Avram Grant has warned him about his precarious position as manager at Stamford Bridge.

Despite leading the Blues to a Champions League final and second place in the Premier League, Grant was sacked at the end of the season.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is known to be very involved in the running of the club, a source of conflict between him and the charismatic Jose Mourinho, who was sacked despite winning two titles.

Grant said: "I like Scolari very much, as a person and coach. I wish him the best of luck.

"But he will soon realise he has his work cut out. He will do well to match what I did last season, and even that was not enough to keep me in the job."

Scolari will hold the first training session of the new season next week where he will introduce Deco to the rest of the team.

Arshavin Set To Join Chelsea - Report

News sources in Russia claim that Andrei Arshavin is very close to joining Chelsea as the Blues up the ante for the rising star.

The Russian international has attracted an array of admiring clubs after two spectacular Euro 2008 performances against Sweden and the Netherlands.

And while Barcelona appeared to be frontrunners in the race to sign Arshavin, Chelsea's last-minute offer may lure him away from Camp Nou and towards the tempting fort knox which is Stamford Bridge.

It was reported on Wednesday that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich had told Luiz Felipe Scolari he wanted a compatriot of his at the squad next season and Big Phil seems now to have found his man under the form of Arshavin.

The Zenit St. Petersburg talent has already flown to London to undergo a medical with The Blues according to reports coming from Russia and hell become Scolari's second summer signing, following in the footsteps of Deco.

Despite the fact that Zenit have been increasingly vocal about their wish to not rush Arshavin's sale, it seems that Chelsea's big-money offer will be enough to capture the 27-year-old, who played a crucial role in Zenit's UEFA Cup success last season.

        WE DON'T NEED HIM!!

arshavin would be a gret signing for chelsea.
the question is, would he fit?
i personally think barca would be the best move for him, just because of there style...

He could play on the wing, it's alright. And he's young, investment for the future

I just don't want him to become another Shaun Wright-Phillips. I would hate to see someone like him on the bench

thats so ironic, i baught Arshavin in PES 2007 then came on PFDC and read this freaky.

we need to cut the squad down, get rid of:
Pizarro, Ben Haim, Sidwell, Ferreira, Wright-Philips(he wants to go)

Don't know about Ferreira, Essien's not a RB and Ferreira could be Bosingwa's cover. We really need to get rid of some MF players though and maybe get a semi-solid CB as backup to Terry and Carvalho.
As for the wings, I think Joe Cole, Kalou (He's really grown on me, he's improving alot) and Arshavin should be sufficient.

Arshavin is 27 years old. If anything he is in peak condition. Perhaps with Lampard probably joining Inter Milan, I think Arshavin would be the free roaming attacking playing behind Drogba with Ballack/Deco controlling the midfield.

arshavin should be support striker and ballack AM, essien and deco in middle.

we have Alex already, hes great.
and Essien does well at right-back, he makes those explosive runs forward which could get us a goal and he did well in defending, he had CR7 covered in CL Final except for that 1 goal lol

Juventus have already completed the signings of two defenders this summer; Olof Mellberg has arrived from Aston Villa and Dario Knezevic has left relegated Livorno in order to link up with Ranieri’s side.
