Brazil might lose the 2003 U-20 Crown

Brazil could lose the 2003 U-20 Crown which they won at UAE(u-20 world cup) after it emerged they fielded an over-age player.

Spain were beaten 1-0 in the final in the United Arab Emirates and Carlos Alberto de Oliveira Junior, who now plays for Figueirense, claimed his date of birth was January 24, 1983 - but was actually born five years before.

FIFA can strip Brazil of their crown and the former Caxias midfielder defended his deception on the grounds that he needed to provide for his impoverished family.

"I regret it, but I did not think this in that moment. I wanted to help my family," he said in an tearful interview with TV channel RBS.

"I went to my house every day and my mother did not have food. I falsified my age to have money, but I regret it. The truth always appears."

"I needed to give a good future to my family. I was playing in Rio de Janeiro when people offered the false documents to me. If I did not accept it, maybe I would be stealing now."

"The player is temporarily suspended. Figueirense was not banned because they did not take advantage of the player's age," confirmed STJD director general Paulo Marcos Schmit.

the funny thing is that this happens in our soccer too, did any of you know that our u-19 team which beat japan 2-1 were actually much much bigger than japans players physically, i think they used some older players.

Plz man don't spread this kind of talk if u have no real proof to back it up, it only makes our football look bad. What's the point?

it's common to all kinds of sports maybe.
remember our national baseball team won many trophys in 1970s?
i watched a documentary about baseball on a local tv today, it said that some players of the winning squads were over-aged. and it's popular for youth teams in Taiwan at that time :-<

Why would Brazil need to cheat, I can understand a small country, but why a country with thousands of talented football players.
