Red Devils ready to make bid for Argentina's Aguero

According to Spanish website AS.com, Manchester United has made an $87.5 million offer for Argentine and Atletico Madrid striker Sergio 'Kun' Aguero.

Aguero's agent, Jose Segui, announced the following: "I've received a significant offer from a very large English club requesting me to pass it on to Atletico Madrid. I cannot say any more until I speak with the club about the offer.

"I can only say that the offer comes from one of the biggest clubs in Europe and it's not Chelsea."

Immediate speculation of the possible transfer followed Segui's press conference on Sunday. Segui is a representative of IMG, who also represents Argentina and Atletico midfielder Maxi Rodriguez.

Further from AS.com: "All signs are pointing to Manchester United. Sir Alex Ferguson's club, worried about the potential departure of Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid, is looking to make an effective splash in the market, and what better way to do it than by signing one of the world's most promising young players.

"Aguero finished his vacation today and will return to the Argentine training camp in preparation for the 2010 Olympics."

Aguero is under contract with Atletico Madrid until 2012.
