I guess it is fair time to just leave the Champions League exit behind us, we did our best to make amends to last season's shock elimination by reaching the semis which in itself is something to be proud of as we last time reached the semis in 2001/02 only to lose to eventual runners-up Bayer Leverkusen.

I am proud of the young lads, they gave it all but they still need experience to effectively tackle these European giants that have done it all in their own careers. This loss is a learning curve for the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo, Carrick, Fletcher, O'Shea, Brown, Heinze, Vidic, and Rio. The likes of Scholes and Giggs could have done better but alas it wasnt the case last night.

We need to leave this loss - and swipes by others - aside and concentrate on what we set out in August last year when the season started; winning back our trophy to become champions of England once more.

Milan played awesome football. Ferguson's excuses were cheap - he should have held his hand up and admitted that they were passed off the park.

Individual excuses were not the reason they lost - they were totally outplayed in midfield and Milan's passing opened them up time and again. That first half performance was special, but they had a similar two years ago and still lost the final.

I hope not but we'll see. They're even older now and any lead for Milan will now psychologically not feel like one. They're a far better team than Liverpool but they were two years ago too.

Ferguson said somethign like he would have held his hands up and admit they were outplayed had Milan opened them up for their goals but the goals were individual United mistakes. I always think that's a cheap way out. That and blaming the Premiership fixture pile up, whilst at the same time backing up Ronaldo when he says that Mourinho doesn't know how to admit his own mistakes and just blames others.
