    ZAMBROTTA: "At Milan with enthusiasm"

    source: Milans site
MILAN - Gianluca Zambrotta expressed his enthusiasm for the new experience at Milan which is about to start: 'A fascinating adventure awaits me at Milan - he told Corriere Canadese - I return to Italy at a great club. In Spain I experienced two very positive years: we did not reach the objectives we aimed for, but we were unlucky.' On his former team mate Ronaldinho: 'He's a great player. Lately he's had some problems but he's always able to make the difference. He's already given a lot to football, and he can still be decisive.'

Chelsea make 'astronomical' bid for AC Milan's Kaka

wats up with chelsea going after all these big name players... starting to piss me off

AC Milan Vice-president Adriano Galliani has told an Italian newspaper that Chelsea have made an 'astronomical' bid for midfielder Kaka.

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari is an admirer of the Brazilian, having coached him in the national side.

Galliani has said that AC Milan do not intend to sell the 26-year-old, who scored 19 goals in the past season.

Scolari is looking to add fresh blood to the Chelsea squad, especially since they are expected to lose Frank Lampard to Jose Mourinho's Inter Milan.

Chelsea last week signed Deco from Barcelona, with fellow Portuguese star Jose Bosingwa joining the club recently.

Shevchenko was a great success at AC Milan and is keen to return to them, Chelsea are keen to sell now, but the politics that will become involved could make any deal very protracted.

Ronaldinho signing shows AC Milan's intention to regain place atop soccer

Ronaldinho signing shows AC Milan's intention to regain place atop soccer
            1 hour ago

AC Milan is counting on a swift return to the top level of European soccer, now that Ronaldinho has joined Kaka and Alexandre Pato in an all-Brazilian attack that any club would envy.

Milan announced late Tuesday that it had finalized a deal to sign Ronaldinho from FC Barcelona, ending several days of negotiations.

"It's true. I really wanted to come to Milan. A lot of things happened and at the end I became Rossonero (red-black)," Ronaldinho told Milan's TV station. "I'm happy to be here and I hope I can provide a lot of joy to Milan's fans.

"It's great to find so many Brazilians, and also so many other champions wearing the Milan jersey."

Milan finished a disappointing fifth in Serie A last season and was eliminated by Arsenal in the second round of the Champions League. This season, Milan will play in the second-tier UEFA Cup.

"With him, with Kaka, and all the other champions, we must try to have a good season for our fans," Pato said Wednesday. "We've got to do more than we did last season and help Milan return to the Champions League."

The Rossoneri won the Champions League in 2003 and 2007, and lost the 2005 final to Liverpool.

"We've improved on every front. We have multiple options and formations we can play with. Our offense is a good mix of skill, experience and youth," Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said.

"Ronaldinho brings a lot of enthusiasm and enthusiasm is just the ingredient we need to start the season well. A few years ago he was considered the best player in the world. Here at Milan he'll find the right environment to get back to that level."

Barcelona said AC Milan will pay 21 million euros (C$33.6 million) for Ronaldinho and an additional 4 million euros (C$6.4 million) if the Italian club clinches a place in the 2009-10 Champions League.

The transfer amount was considerably less than the 32 million euros that Barcelona said Manchester City had offered.

"Ronaldinho: Miracle in Milan," read the headline in the Milan-based Gazzetta dello Sport, which reported that Milan will pay Ronaldinho 6.5 million euros (C$10.4 million) per season.

After arriving in Milan, Ronaldinho was to undergo a medical exam and sign a contract through June 2011.

Ancelotti said Ronaldinho's arrival made Milan "a team competitive on every front."

"There's a lot of material and we can really do well," the coach added. "The club made a big sacrifice and got great players like Ronaldinho, (Gianluca) Zambrotta and (Marco) Borriello. The club should be applauded."

Milan signed Zambrotta from Barcelona, midfielder Mathieu Flamini from Arsenal and regained Borriello, who scored 19 goals while on loan to Genoa last season.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, who led Milan's negotiations for Ronaldinho, said that the Brazilian would be the club's final addition in this transfer market.

"Milan's market closes with Ronaldinho. (Alberto) Paloschi, (Ignazio) Abate and (Dario) Simic could leave, but in terms of arrivals we're finished as is - absolutely," Galliani said.

Ronaldinho scored 91 goals in 200 appearances in five seasons at Barcelona, and helped lead the club to consecutive Spanish league titles in 2005 and '06, and the Champions League trophy in 2006.

"Five unforgettable years. Many thanks," Barcelona said on its Web site Wednesday,

Barcelona daily Sport splashed "Ciao, ciao Ronnie" across its front page before adding "Goodbye to the magic."

About 30,000 fans greeted Ronaldinho's arrival at Camp Nou from Paris Saint-Germain in 2003.

The Brazilian's toothy grin and dazzling skills immediately won over the Camp Nou faithful, while his dizzying dribbles and visionary passing led Barcelona back to the top of the Spanish league by his second season.

But Barcelona's subsequent dip in form paralleled that of Ronaldinho, who was criticized for being overweight and engaging in late-night partying.

Still, Barcelona fans paid tribute to Ronaldinho on Wednesday.

"Despite everything, thanks Ronnie!" one fan wrote on El Mundo Deportivo's website.

Another fan suggested the club should retire Ronaldinho's No. 10 shirt "until someone else comes along that really deserves it."

"Real Madrid offered 90 million euros last summer and Milan did not even think about the bid," Kaka's advisor Diogo Kotscho said on Saturday.

"This time is different. This is the first time we feel that a deal will definitely happen,” he said.

"Because of the situation Milan are in at the moment, the deal is good for all parties involved,” he added.

"The move would represent a significant increase in Kaka's salary, on top of the 10 percent transfer fee that goes straight to the player anyway - some 15 million euros,” he explained.

The 26-year-old Brazilian international is under contract with Milan until 2012.

                      http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3...-ac-milan-move

Reports have emerged that Man Utd and England striker W.Rooney has been targeted by AC Milan. Milan had previously been linked with Adebayor and Drogba, but now they have turned their attention towards Rooney.

The hitman is valued at $30 million and it looks certain that Milan will be bidding on the striker in few days.

However, Ronaldo has had a "U-turn", and will be at in EPL this season

                              Great News

Pirlo pledges to end career with AC Milan

Italy midfielder Andrea Pirlo wants to spend the rest of his career at AC Milan.

The 29-year-old rejected the opportunity to move to England or Spain this summer, with reports suggesting Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid had all made enquiries, but he insists he plans to retire wearing the Rossoneri colours.

'I am happy at AC Milan,' said Pirlo. 'I have a long contract and I don't think there is a better team than this one.

'Milan is one of the strongest clubs and I hope to end my career with them.

'I have two years left on my contract and I hope to renew it for many more years.'

Meanwhile, Milan striker Marco Borriello could miss the start of the Serie A campaign because of a knee injury.

Borriello, who has returned to the Rossoneri this summer having played on loan at Genoa last season, suffered the injury in Saturday's training session.

A club statement read: 'Marco Borriello has undergone an MRI (scan) on his right knee.

'The player will travel to Antwerp on Wednesday to see specialist Marc Martens.'

Borriello was in great form for Genoa last season, notching 19 goals to finish as the third top scorer in Serie A, which won him a place in Italy's Euro 2008 squad.

Initial fears are that he will be out of action for at least six weeks, wrecking his chances of making an early impact on his return to Milan.
