    Zambrotta Close To Milan Move?

The Italian winger was seen in Milan on Wednesday where he stayed for an entire day, thus sparking the rumours that the Rossoneri are on the verge of signing him.

zoom - galleria Gianluca Zambrotta's first year with Barcelona has been far from impressive, as the Italian world cup winning midfielder failed to show all the good things done over the years with the Azzurri and Juventus, and found it more difficult than expected to acclimate himself with the Catalan club.

The transfer speculation is that Zambrotta now wants to return to Italy at the end of the season and apparently Milan are on top of his list.

The former Juve player has made it no secret that he does not want to go back to the Bianconeri, where he is considered as a traitor there for abandoning ship soon after the Calciopoli scandal erupted.

Zambrotta also admitted in the past that his favourite team has always been Milan since he was a kid, so his day spent in Milan was a further confirmation that something is boiling.

For the time being both sides are not saying anything, but there were no denials, therefore the 30-year-old winger could soon make a return to the peninsula.

haha, I was going to post the same news! but didn't wanna spend my 5000 post on that!

If We want him, we'll probabely use him on the left side where we don't have any shining star (Kaladze is not lefty, Janko is not that great!)

              Viva Sandro...

Alessandro Nesta has committed to seeing out his career with the Rossoneri, penning a new four year deal that will keep him at the San Siro until 2011.

There had been suggestions of a return to Lazio to see out his career, and the player himself had admitted he was uncertain.
However, the Rossoneri seem to have been handed a great boost ahead of the Champions League final, having secured the Italian international for another four years.
He will be 35 in 2011, which is when he plans to hang up his boots.
In the meanwhile, he is focussed on producing his best for Milan, particularly in the Champions League.
"I want to get back to the top, and live the Champions League nights at the San Siro," he declared.
He has spent almost five months out with an injury picked up in a Champions League clash against Andrelecht in early November, but has been on his way back to top form since his return to action in late March, against Roma.
He is also set to become a father.

From Portugal With Love: Good Luck Milan - Rui Costa

Manuel Rui Costa wanted to pay tribute and wish his old club Milan good luck in the upcoming Champions League final against Liverpool in Athens.

zoom - galleria In the Champions League final against Liverpool which Milan lost in 2005, one of the Milan players who came from the bench was Manuel Rui Costa, a player the Rossoneri fans have not forgotten.

Now that Milan have the chance to exact revenge for that ill-fated final in Athens against the Reds, the Portuguese champ, now at Benfica, wanted to wish his team good luck in a letter dedicated to administrator Adriano Galliani.

"Whoever has had the luck, as I have, to be part of the Milan family does not forget and never stops feeling a part of it", Rui Costa said as reported on the Rossoneri's website.

"I understood it as I came back to Benfica, a very sentimental choice that I had decided to make the moment I left Lisbon as a kid. But Milan are a club that becomes your blood and doesn't go out anymore, so I would like to tell you, the President, to Carlo and all the lads that my heart will be with all of you in Athens.

"I am proud of what you have managed to do in this very difficult season and I know you will be able to finish it in style, with the class and courage only Milan are able to deliver in these 'special' moments! Beating Liverpool will be a small revenge for me too... Good luck from yours truly, Manuel Rui Costa."

The UEFA Champions League final against Liverpool FC will not be Paolo Maldini’s last match as many football fans had feared. The AC Milan captain has decided to play on for another season, his 24th wearing the No3 shirt for the Rossoneri. When Maldini does retire in 2008, the club will keep his shirt for safe-keeping, guarding it in the hope of returning it to the family one day if his son Christian, the promising grandson of former Milan captain Cesare Maldini, breaks into the first team. Paolo, 38, spoke with uefa.com about Milan’s family dynasty and his hopes and expectations for his eighth European Champion Clubs’ Cup final.

uefa.com: After the defeat in 2005 is this final more special?

Paolo Maldini: Facing Liverpool is an opportunity to take revenge, but we have nothing against them. During my career I won most of the games I deserved to win. That night was not like that because we surely deserved to win and we didn't. However, we don't have to think about our opponents too much. We have to play our own game and then accept the result on the pitch. They are a dangerous side especially with [Steven] Gerrard and [Peter] Crouch.

uefa.com: What's the build-up to the final like?

Maldini: We are quite calm now. The tension will raise as we get closer to the game, starting from when we leave for Athens on Monday.

uefa.com: Three finals in four years. What is Milan’s secret in this competition?

Maldini: I think the secret is a completely different style of game and life in general. The whole club is different. This is the only club who keeps players even if they are over 35, looking at their talent without considering their age.

uefa.com: How many other finals would you like to play?

Maldini: I hope to play another one after this one in Athens because next season will surely be my last.

uefa.com: The final against Liverpool will be your eighth in the competition, the same number as Real Madrid CF legend Paco Gento. What do you think about reaching such a milestone?

Maldini: Honestly I never cared so much about records. I only think about winning as many trophies as possible and Milan gave me the chance to play so many finals in this competition. Believe me, it is not easy to reach the UEFA Champions League final.

uefa.com: Could you ever imagine achieving so much when you were younger?

Maldini: No, no. I just wanted to become a good Serie A player. When I was younger it was not very common to see Italian teams winning so many trophies in Europe. Milan and Inter had managed to win the trophy twice during the Sixties but otherwise there weren't many Italian teams who had been able to dominate in Europe.

uefa.com: Did your father Cesare give you your love for football?

Maldini: My father did not talk much about football with me. He thought mostly about teaching me as a man and about my education. I think I've loved football since the day I was born. This love pushes me to go on despite my age. I don't think my love for the game will ever die. However in order to achieve great results and always be at the top you have to be lucky enough to play with a great club and I have had this opportunity.

uefa.com: What is Milan for you?

Maldini: Milan is football for me. I have played for this club for my whole career, I was born in Milan, and my father had a very important career with this team. For me the word football means Milan.

uefa.com: Your own son plays for Milan's youth team. Do you think he will become a good player?

Maldini: At his age – he has not turned eleven yet – you can already see if he is capable and he surely is. If he manages to develop this talent and if has the ambition to reach great goals, the next step will be deciding whether he wants to try this career or not.

uefa.com: When you retire, Milan will retire your No3 jersey. Would you like to see your son wearing that shirt?

                      Maldini:

This is why I LOVE Milan; They never abandon their faithful legends.

Italian football will lose a legend this year as Alessandro Costacurta will retire at the end of this season.

He played his final game on Saturday against Udinese in front of his own home crowd, scoring a goal from the penalty spot.

"It's a beautiful day," commented Costacurta at the end of the game. "They organized me a great party and I'm thankful to everyone: the club, my family and my team-mates whom I love a lot. I'm very happy."

Costacurta will now join the coaching staff of the Rossoneri.

"Galliani told me that Ancelotti wanted me with him. There can be multiple prospects. Remaining in this environment was the most important thing."

Costacurta won all there was to win with the Milan shirt during his long career which started over 20 years ago.
