Club coefficient
The club coefficient is determined by the results of a club in European club competition in the last five seasons, and the league coefficient. The club coefficient is 33% of the league coefficient plus the number of points earned by the club in the five seasons. The points earned by a club in the preliminary rounds are not counted.
This ranking is used by UEFA to determine which pot the club belongs to in the preliminary and first rounds of the Champions League, and the preliminary, first and second rounds of the UEFA Cup.
Note, UEFA only publish club rankings at the end of each football season. While some independent web sites are proficient at applying UEFA calculations to give interim figures during the season, these should be taken as unofficial estimates, and not as categorical fact.

Nevertheless, this ranking is based on the teams performance in CL and league during 5 years. and I agree with the ranking 100% (at least for the top 5). Both Milan and Liverpool have been among the top 4 teams of their country for a long time, also have reached the final of CL for at least a couple of times. (Milan won 2, lost 1 final)
