    Cannavaro wins Ballan d'or

Congratulations to Cannavaro winning the European Best Player.

    2nd Buffon
    3rd Henry

Looks like the World Cup had a lot to do with the results as all three players were in the final.

Good to see a keeper and a defender at the top.

I think justice has been served, even though many (french, Spanish, etc) are big time against the decision. For once, beautiful play was not a factor in selecting the winner. They don't like the fact that "he is not one who creates beautiful play but one who actually plays to destroy it" but for me, football is as much about creating beautiful play as it is about destroying it. Great defensive play must get just as much credit. I love it that Canna won.

Yup. This award was good for football in general. People need to realize its not all about strikers and scoring. Playing good defense is also a beautiful game.

Its actually ALOT harder to play defense than offense.....we should all relate....we're Iranians. LOL

Can you enlighten us with your valid opinion, your majesty?

Which position your honor think that it's harder to play at?

offence= harder to play than defence.

                          really???

But why do you think that offence is harder? have you thought about it?

Maybe you suck at scoring goals!! and that's why you think it's harder!

Have you played as a winger ever? how about as a midfield? specially a ball winner or a diffensive midfielder? If not, try it and you'll find out that playing as a forward is much much easier than anywhere else.

In deffence, if you mis-kick one ball......it's goal! The goalie position is even harder. But in forward position there is no such a pressure on you.

ive always been a striker, but ive played RM, LM, AM, and LD too. from my personal experience being a striker is the hardest by far. you are waiting the whole time until you get a proper pass and then you have to watch for offside and you need a perfect run. once you get the ball you have to worry about all the defenders coming at you, and there is so much pressure when you need to score because if you miss an easy chance people will give you hell. for defending all you have to do is close the passing angle or not let someone get past, or clear the ball which are easy. the only hard part of defending is defending against a cross or in the air.

why do you think most of the best players in the world are attacking midfielders/strikers? there were only a couple of really good players who were defenders.
