It's also Iranian players making bad decisions. Karimi rejected amazing offers from Spain and England, and now isn't adapting at Bayern.

Korean players might not be as talented as Iranian players skill wise, but they can adapt a lot easier to the EPL.

u pretty much hit it on the button, his time in the spotlight was at euro 04 and after that couldnt find the net so often, he has never been a lethal striker for his clubs (liverpool, villa) but maybe france will fit his groove. Stupid move to sell Carew at this time

Baros sucks and has attitude problems. I can't believe Lyon went for him.

Carew is a deadly striker, and one of the most underrated.

Baros is good too but he's had a slump and he can't seem to adapt at all.

Aston Villa got a good deal while Lyon keep selling away their stars.

Red Bull Salzburg are pleased to announce that the signing of another internationally renowned player has been finalised.

Alessandro dos Santos, more commonly known as Alex, has made the switch to the Bulls and will go straight to the training camp in Dubai.

Alex was born in Marinaga, Brazil on 20/07/1977.

The technically perfect left-footed midfielder arrived in Japan to study in 1994.

He was granted Japanese citizenship in 2001 due to his love for a Japanese woman.

He was handed his first international cap by Japan on 21/03/2002 against the Ukraine.

Alessandro dos Santos stands 5 foot 11 tall and weighs 10 stone 12 lbs.

He came to Japan at the age of sixteen and was awarded Japanese citizenship five years ago.

Alex was signed from Urawa Red Diamonds.

The Brazilian-born Japanese player has made 83 appearances for his adopted country's national side.

His last outing came on 15th November against Saudi Arabia in Sapporo. Japan, under the guidance of former Sturm Graz coach Ivica Osim, won the Asia Cup qualifying tie 3-1.

In 2006, Alex collected the domestic league and cup double with his Urawa Red Diamonds team-mates.

He is set to meet them again on February 13th when Salzburg face his former club at home in the Bulls cup.
